Just played Muse on the xfm, apparently they are in some dodgy part of Hackney working on their new LP, which is in the same vein as some of their recent stuff, quite rocky, but also some stuff like Abba, according to Bellamy..... - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Noose Boy Sent: Thursday, September 26, 2002 2:51 PM To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: RE: seven-seas it's not just Echo.... Muse supported the Stereophonics on a tour and supposedly got on quite well, then after the tour Kelly called them 'a Radiohead tribute band', nice huh? I just lifted the quote. Kelly does have quite a big gob for a short taff that covers Creedance Clearwater stuff. Don't own Origin Of Symmetry, so I'll have to check it out - -----Original Message----- From: matt.harkness@bt.com That said, I do think it is unfair to label Muse as a Radiohead tribute band. I can see that there are comparisons between Showbiz and Pablo Honey/Bends-era Radiohead, but Origin Of Symmetry is a masterpiece of an album, unlike anything Radiohead have done... ========================================= http://www.bunnymen.com official web page ========================================= ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Sep 2002 14:54:05 +0100 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: seven-seas-moderated RE: seven-seas Up and coming gigs Yeah might be worth crashing there after Nousteau, that way I could listen to McNabb sound check. Wish I could have gone instead. It's hard for a young band to do well with live sets when the music is so complex and layered and really dependent upon one person. (To do it well you need loads of expensive gear to trigger in samples -- and then is it live? or else you have to rearrange the songs.) They don't sound anything like Radiohead to me, but maybe that is because when I first heard Muse, I'd been spared any Radiohead comparisons by the music press here -- who just plain don't care about either band. I've not got the album, but I've heard three tracks off the 'net..... No doubting his calibre as a guitarist (was there ever?), but who in God's name persuaded him that he could sing? His voice is dreadful, and whilst I've never been a Dylan fan, I'd much rather listen to him than Squire.... ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V1 #115 ********************************
