If it weren't him, it was someone smart, because everyone will be on edge waiting for you to fuck it up again, and if you don't... problem solved. If a musician goes out on stage dead pissed and plays every song in the wrong key but is passionate as hell about the music, including pouring their guts out during the encore, does that make it a good show? ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Sep 2002 23:00:31 +0100 From: "Shaz" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas OT Moby Yes go...saw him at Glasto 2000 - very good and also on tv live, puts a lot into it, enthusiastic performance - running about all over the stage to various instruments....and I agree on the backing band Raj....I like the Astoria too...and he usually has a good vibe from the audience... > Martyn > Top Tip :If a small child is choking on an ice cube, don't panic. > Simply pour a jug of boiling water down its throat and hey presto! From the Muse message boards (which, BTW, are HUGE): Yeah, sucks doesn't it? It's a conspiracy. All fabulous British bands bitch and moan about how hard it is to break America, then only play over 21's in New York City, Chicago, and various places in California, before flying back to play twice as many dates in the most obscure European countries. - ---- There are desperate fans from all over the US, but especially in the centre of the country, imploring Muse to come here... trying to figure out how to get radio to play them more, etc. I found out about the radio shit the hard way with E-fix. Those of us on seven-seas at the time were asked to call our local radio stations and request them. No go. I was flatly told by the young woman DJ that the playlists are predetermined and that who was it, Warner? did not want Efix to be played. Period. Their own label had sold them out. So how *does* a new band break in England? Granted, greater population density, but still.... easier to get on the radio because it's state owned instead of McDonaldised? Here, the *only* way to do it is to tour and put on a hell of a show. The "drive til you die" method. It worked for Rush, who have about zero airplay and 20,000 fans per show (and they are from Canada, they aren't American). Except for the brief period around _Permanent Waves_ and _Moving Pictures_ (1978-1981) they literally weren't and haven't been on the radio. - --Amy (why is COLDPLAY bigger here than Muse?) ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Sep 2002 06:45:30 +0200 From: Anders =?iso-8859-1?Q?D=F6mstedt?= Subject: seven-seas-moderated Puressence Don`t forget to buy the new Puressence single, "Walking Dead". I don't own any Moby records but don't mind the stuff I've heard on the radio etc. Anyone on the list seen him live, and can recommend I go?
