Um, "Baby Blue" is also on either the 13th Floor Elevators' first or second album, both of which are worth hearing. The first is called 'The Psychadelic Sounds of...' and the second is 'Easter Everywhere'--the opening track of which is 'Slip Inside This House', for all you Primal Scream fans. - --David Maxfield - --- stevie g wrote: > The 13th Floor Elevators covered ''... baby blue'' - > it's available on > the cd ''up on the 13th floor'' - a compilation of > their stuff was > released on Dressed to Kill records. And I'm sorry, but....Ocean Rain STILL gives me the fucking chills more times than I can say and not just at the end. Personally, I can't see why you think it's so bad. There's so much about this song to love..... Will's guitar gives me chills just as much, if not more, than the vocals do sometimes, especially the solo in the middle. But so what if it's not exactly the same as the studio version... if ya want that, ya can always play the damn cd! And no.....I'm not 'blind' when it comes to this band, I can be quite objective...probably even moreso than a lot of people, but this version is quite touching....and I'm sure I can safely speak for most of us that were there that night when I say it was one of the most beautiful highlights of LIPA! If a song gives you chills....then you don't need 'eyes' or a fucking degree in whatever to 'see' that it's beautiful! You'll 'feel' it! Maybe if you would just sit back and try to 'feel' the music for what it 'is' at that particular moment and not what you think it 'should' be....maybe you wouldn't be so disappointed all the time. Not everything has to be studio perfect to be good! It would be pointless to play or attend a gig if that were the case! ~Red ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Sep 2002 12:27:58 -0500 (CDT) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Echo Live at LIPA CD > I just got this cd out and played it again for the first time > in a few months and it sounded so refreshing and alive and > Will's guitar is awesome. I have already said that I think that Will did a wonderful job with the entire album. Ian's voice just is not what it used to be - -- and for myself and others, this is a regrettable loss. For you, perhaps, it's just a transition -- or maybe you don't feel he's lost anything. The number of reviews I've read by the music press that keep alluding to his voice sounding like an angel filtered through a large number of cigarettes tells me that they're hearing what I'm hearing... whether or not it's a positive or negative change is up for discussion. > Will's guitar gives me chills just as much, if not more, than > the vocals do sometimes, especially the solo in the middle. I agree that the solo is beautiful... all of it's beautiful, except hearing a singer strain to sing his own music.
