It's beautifully played by the band, and great care taken with the recording and engineering, but was it an odd weekend for Mac? He sounds as if he's got a cold... I was enjoying the version of "Ocean Rain" all the way up to the final "under-NEATH" the waves.... and he just couldn't make the half-step rise on that syllable.... it kinda shot down the beauty of the track, because he couldn't soar like a sea bird over the wreckage his love had allowed him to escape... Was thinking... could I cash in on the craze for home remedies and come up with a product for (ahem) older singers called "Vocal Viagra" -- for when you really need to get it up? ;-) Yours in Bunnydom, Amy ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 05 Sep 2002 20:10:46 +0000 From: "Peter Burnand" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas first four album remasters? a bit OT Amy wrote: "...I know many would gladly destroy any piece of equipment playing Rush (tied as my favourite), but for some reason I can't STAND Jethro Tull..." - --- I'm quite partial to a bit of Tull; reminds me of when I was on the fringes of the 'smelly' clique at school (I was never a bone fide member as I wasn't cool enough, didn't own a copy of Hemispheres by the aforementioned Rush and my hair wouldn't grow long, just into a massive affro. But anyway, my old barber in Liverpool used to play Tull at frightening sound levels which meant that communication regarding cutting of hair, etc. was demoted to surly sign language. I finally stopped going there after a particularly nasty 'white Will Smith in mid-life crisis' job attracted comments less than positive veering to the downright hostile. PS: Just got back from me hols and checked the ansaphone. Message from my cousin might amuse (I'd been arsing around with a recording from the Glide soundhub) - "What the fuck is that? (much laughter) I feel as if I've just been electrically regressed into a previous life when I was the captain of a space craft mobile who did nothing but eat kryptonite and dead human bones. Is that the planet that that music's from?!" _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Sep 2002 23:28:55 -0500 (CDT) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: seven-seas-moderated Oh, and somethinstrange.... ;-) You're in Houston, I'm in Austin.... I did mean what I said about wanting to hear "Ocean Rain" live. From watching the past few English bands that have toured the US, I have gathered that they tend to play the same cities... the two coasts, and two or three cities in between, notably in Ohio, and then Chicago or Denver -- maybe Phoenix. Closest show is usually Denver. I do wish these bands would play either Dallas *or* Houston... there is a huge fan base in Texas for many of them. Who else would you like to see play here? As I've said, I'd like Muse... ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Sep 2002 09:11:28 -0400 From: "Chris Adams" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Liverpool: Wondrous Place Hi: If anyone from the UK could find the time/inclination to pick up this book for me (it's not available yet in the states) I'll trade a copy of "Turquoise Days" for it.
