Something along the lines of the Scott > Walker remasters on Fontana would be nice. We did get a lot of liner notes, but it'd be very interesting to hear more regarding the specifics of the recordings and the thought processes behind them (from all the different parties involved who can remember!) .... what they were trying to convey, and anything in particular they did to enhance that message via music arrangement or recording technique. - --Amy ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Sep 2002 06:44:43 -0400 From: Stephen Still Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas first four album remasters? Even better would be for the old discs to be remastered as super audio cds or atl least as DTS discs to stick in a DVD player. What %age of people have SACD players, I wonder? I do, but I just got mine. And there are few SACDs out there.... - --Amy ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Sep 2002 14:23:55 +0200 From: Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: Re: seven-seas first four album remasters? Or even better would be to have the LPs re-released so we can replace our worn vinyl with pristine copies of those 4 albums. For all the 24-bit remastering, SACD, DVD-A etc, nothing but nothing matches the sound of how the music should be heard. You can barely hear the maelstrom on the CD version of 'Porcupine'. And record sleeves too instead of piddling little booklets. The photography alone deserves it. And nothing beats the smell of a new record. That might just be me though. - -- Barry. > From: Stephen Still > > Even better would be for the old discs to be remastered as super audio > cds or atl least as DTS discs to stick in a DVD player. > > Stephen > > Amy Moseley Rupp wrote: > > >>I think it'd be interesting to hear the classic material remastered, > >>and see some new packaging with liner notes and such (true, we got a > >>lot of notes with the box set).
