Alright, I'm cheating ;-) This has been the strangest year of my life, but I've grown more musically than any other time, including my teens. I've been so busy listening to newly recommended bands from new-found friends -- mostly English bands -- that I haven't had time to keep up with many 2002 releases. However, I added two bands to my 'favourites' list this year. The soundtrack of my life for 2002 has been comprised of Muse Snow Patrol Rush (yeah, I know) and of course Echo and the Bunnymen without whom none of this would have been possible. - --Amy, who could have never imagined a year ago what life would be like today! ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Dec 2002 09:27:24 -0000 From: matt.harkness@bt.com Subject: RE: seven-seas-moderated Albums of the year, anyone? >Didn't like Weller, eh? Days of Speed was the best >thing he'd done in ages The only thing both Days of Speed and Illumination managed to do for me was make me want to go and listen to The Jam again! A couple of others hovering just outside my top ten were Feeder's Come Back Around and The Reindeer Section's Son Of Evil Reindeer. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Dec 2002 09:36:34 -0000 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: seven-seas-moderated FW: Resurrection time - -----Original Message----- Members of The Damned will be involved in a recording session with Lemmy from Mvtorhead early next year. Details are pretty sketchy at the moment but the recording is scheduled for late Jan/early Feb and should feature Vanian, Sensible and Pinch along with Lemmy on bass. It's not the first time that the band have recorded with Lemmy and Mvtorhead, back in 1979 both bands joined forces in the studio and briefly created MvtorDamned. Expect other high profile artists to appear and the resulting racket to be unleashed around 2004. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Dec 2002 06:49:37 -0500 From: "David Whiting" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Albums of the year, anyone? <<5. I was playing _Ocean Rain_ in the car last night and thinking that it sorely deserves more recognition. This feeling only gets stronger over time. I do wish the title track got as much recognition as "The Killing Moon" but perhaps someday it will. Agree completely about Pete's masterful drumming... it's especially evident on "Ocean Rain" where the end is relatively loud -- but it's all strings and simple guitar, not stadium rock. Thanks for posting this, Shaz. I take it there's a daily album on the BBC Radio 6 website somewhere? Do you happen to have the link handy? I'd love to read that. - --Amy ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Dec 2002 18:25:56 -0000 From: "Shaz" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: Ocean Rain - Album of the Day BBC 6 Music multipart/alternative Sender: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org Precedence: bulk Reply-To: seven-seas@smoe.org ps 6 music are playing tracks from the album Monday - Saturday Hoorah! :-) Shaz - -----Original Message----- From: Shaz To: seven-seas@smoe.org Date: 07 December 2002 18:23 Subject: Ocean Rain - Album of the Day BBC 6 Music ALBUM OF THE DAY Echo & The Bunnymen: Ocean Rain ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-moderated-digest V1 #65 *****************************************
