Yes. It's off South Congress. The Austin Opry House was originally opened in 1977 by and owned by Willie Nelson (he did a week of shows to open the venue), but later sold to a group of investors around '81 or '82. They had a very nice of shows in 83/84 with Echo & The Bunnymen, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Big Country (actually this was probably 82) and The Cure. BTW, if that's the same Siouxsie show I was at there, it was great. If memory serves me correctly My Life with the Thrill Kill Cult opened. If > memory serves me correctly My Life with the Thrill Kill Cult opened. I don't remember if anyone opened and if so whom! That was my first non-arena 'alternative' concert! I was with a bunch of my giggly college roommates whom I had convinced to come back up to Austin (I think the show was in July, around my birthday, the 12th, 1986) from our hometowns. I was the only one into alternative, having gotten into Echo in March of that year. I can remember with whom we spent the night! Clean the damn ears out. To be honest, just about anything without an alt in front of it is crap in my book. The alt changes everything. It's not cunt-ry (although I might actually like it, if it were spelled that way) at all in my oprinion...it just has a few of those subtle vibes running through it, but that's as far as it goes really. It's probably more pop (another dirty word) than country. Take it or leave it...doesn't matter to me. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Nov 2002 00:55:47 +0000 From: "Peter Burnand" Subject: seven-seas-moderated savaging Just seen Mac give Granada presenter Antony Wilson a damn good savaging on a late night debate thing held at the Pan American Club about Liverpool's Capital Of Culture bid. He was obviously having a fine time sitting next to Des Hatton and knocking back the old red vino. Hatton was complaining he couldn't get a word in because he was sitting next to Ian McCulloch... PS: Sorry if this post is nothing to do with silver miners in Puerto Rico or refuge compounds next to Mount Etna or whatever the fuck is being talked about at the moment. _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam?
