I guess you might be able to put him in that alt-country category, but that's about as far as it goes. I'd say he has a lot more in common with another artist I like a lot, named Josh Rouse. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Nov 2002 20:41:59 -0600 (CST) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas OT A cautionary tale > Ooh, to each their own, but I really like Pete Yorn and I don't think > he sounds even remotely like Shania Twain. I don't know who I would compare him with, but .... sort of a mellow that never borders on melancholic genius or madness but just stays sorta flat. My sister-in-law LOVES Pete Yorn. She's brainwashed my brother. They tried de-programming me from "alls I like is English music" by forcing me to listen to Pete Yorn (mistake #1) and by viciously slagging Muse (huge mistake #2, end of attempt). Hey! Now there's a clue. If you don't like Muse, maybe you'll like Pete Yorn.... ;-) because that's about the only commonality I can find (though don't know about you, David). Muse is anything *but* mellow. - --Amy ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Nov 2002 09:43:27 -0000 From: matt.harkness@bt.com Subject: seven-seas-moderated RE: seven-seas OT A cautionary tale >>I give you they are an American band, the same way the Monkees were >>despite having what was his name, Davy... Only the second time I've been (honest) and even though the main room was pumping a bit I discovered, in my heightened state of awareness, another room tucked out the back where as i walked in, shania was emanating from the speakers, can't remember the other stuff but generally more radio 2 friendly.
