Today is, as some of you know, Guy Fawkes Day, and most of us over here,
if we've heard of it, have to really reach for WHY it's celebrated.  I
did retrieve 'he tried to blow up Parliament' from the dusty memory
banks though I still have NO CLUE why that should be cause for fireworks
and all.

Someone on my tropical hibiscus mailing list, having a senior moment,
earnestly asked:

"Does anyone remember WHY Guy Fawkes tried to blow up Parliament?"

The answer from the single Brit on the list:

"Because it was Bonfire Night."

ARRRRGGGGHHH!!!
