Bunnymen songs especially, but all are welcome... what gets the crowd going? Rush's recent tour opened/opens with "Tom Sawyer" -- a welcome change from leaving that til encore time, because it's a classic album opener (Moving Pictures) and such a surprise to long-time fans to open with it. It's also a favourite with dilettantes. Yet it has no air of finality to it as do "Ocean Rain" and "A Day In The Life." Simple, hook-filled, wide appeal -- which Bunnymen songs fit this best? Get the crowd off their aging arses and to their feet begging for more? ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 05 Nov 2002 09:16:05 +0100 From: "Jelte Dijkstra" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Bunnymen on Young Ones Just a trivial bunnyspotting: I saw a re-run of The Young Ones episode "Sick" yesterday. After Vyvian throws his bomb at Rick and Neil, Rick threatens him: Rick: "I shall write to my MP!" Neil: "You don't have an MP, you're an anarchist." Rick: "O.k. then, I'll write... I'll write to the lead singer of Echo & The Bunnymen!. Dear Mr. Echo..." I hadn't seen this episode before, and I had a faint hope that this scene would be an introduction to a Bunnymen performance. However, up came Madness... Coldplay have already contributed with "Lips Like Sugar" -- what would you see done and why? Which artists do you think have *really* been influenced by the Bunnymen? Which songs have been the most influential? "The Cutter" and "Never Stop" have been highly influential in terms of using classical instruments in innovative ways. And I don't hear a cello in a pop song without thinking of the entire _Ocean Rain_ album -- though of course the Beatles and "Eleanor Rigby" etc. So if Q did a CD tribute to the Bunnymen a la Uncut, and you were editor, who would you ask to do what? ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 Nov 2002 19:10:43 +0100 From: "Kiek en Julienne" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Re: OT questionable topiary i sort of detect some sexual statement in this??
