I can take or leave Coldplay, really. Don't dislike them but they don't really hit me either. I don't hear the Bunnymen on their latest album, at all ; I do hear U2 (and that's not a slight, by the way). BUT, Coldplay have probably done more for the Bunnymen's profile than London Records ever did during the WAYGTWYL promotion (ha!) that it can only be a good thing. I've checked out plenty of bands/albums purely on a Bunnymen namecheck (Television, Modern Lovers, 'Remain In Light' etc) --- I'd like to think there's a few Coldplay freaks out there who might check out The Bunnymen. > Will Ian & The Buns re-gain the interest of major labels? Not sure there's any point in signing for a major in this day and age, given the dominance of the independent label. Ok, the USA tour(s) might be a bit harder to fund, but that's not my greatest concern ;-) > Do you think Ian will embark on a massive solo tour, or do you think > the Bunnymen will dive right back into the studio and record another > album? Presumably, a half dozen UK dates so promote.test the water and take it from there. If the first single's a global smash, I'm sure the Bunnymen stuff will have to wait...don't cha think ? > What other North/Northwest rock luminaries should I coerce into contributing? Pete Wylie for comedy anecdotes alone. 56 minutes of motormouth banter with a track of his choice (i.e one of his own) to make up the 60 minutes.... - -- Barry - -- Barry Whiting barry@urquell.freeserve.co.uk ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Oct 2002 23:53:44 +0100 From: "Barry Whiting" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas oh, and another thing... - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ivan" > I haven't seen the "Ocean Rain" performance from the Q Awards, but > most have > described it as 'uninspiring'. He's not normally off mark with this sorta stuff. I'm not one to read reviews before looking myself but was flicking through The Times and the film gets a 4/5. And also 'Several majestic tracking shots, filmed in rippling slow motion with backing tracks by Echo and the Bunnymen and Tears for Fears, are worth the price of entry alone.' Yeah, 2 other reviews I've read over here have mentioned the Bunnymen as part of the soundtrack. Unusual (the mention, not the contribution)....but having said that, it does feature a man in a rabbit suit(-ish), right ? Surprised none of our U.S. cousins haven't mentioned the film before......unless the film's a piece of shit, of course. - -- Barry Whiting barry@urquell.freeserve.co.uk ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Oct 2002 17:02:42 -0700 From: "Ivan" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Donnie Darko I'm pretty sure both Chris Adams and myself have brought it up at one time or another.... he dug it as well, if I'm correct.... - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barry Whiting" > Surprised none of our U.S. cousins haven't mentioned the film > before......unless the film's a piece of shit, of course. - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
