I've been having difficulty watching it - I think it's their server- was down all day yesterday. I was able to strip the audio track, and have transcribed (and translated) the interview: Mac: Yeah, we just won this award. It's great! (bounces award in hand) Packs a bit of weight, but... Will: We should've brought that "Preacher", given someone else that Preacher Award... we don't want 'em Mac: (laughs) It's great to have, especially for a band that's, I think, generally only ever gotten three stars in Q. But that's down to individual journalists, I know that. But, it's kind of vindication of what we always knew, Plus vindication for other people, you know. We always knew we were, I think, the best band in the world. For a long time... I mean now, who knows? I don't think it's a competition anymore. Because there are so many good bands who play it straight. Bands like Coldplay, Radiohead, even bands like The Hives, who I love, they're playing it straight, with a smile on their face... it's a different kind of... they're taking the piss out of something... Which is great, and they make great music. But when we were growing up, in the 80's, there were a lot of, I think, charlatans. And we were fighting a battle to try and just do it the way we do it, and not kowtow to record companies or the mass market, you know [Interviewer]: Can I ask you what you think of The Coral, another Liverpool band? Mac: Aah, that's another band who play it straight, but in a weird way. They're fantastic. I think they should've won "Best New Band" by a long way. They're mega. And it's not just 'cuz they're from Merseyside. I'm glad they are, 'cuz it makes me proud that, once again, a band's turned up like us who are just totally out on a limb. I think they're brilliant. [Interviewer]: What does Q stand for, in your eyes? Mac: Question. pauses.... Q? (interviewer starts to repeat question) Mac: What don't I understand about that? The answer was with the "A". - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Dave was a member of the Bunnymen 'family', and we wish his loved ones well. He'd been working on Will's upcoming Glide album, as Will related a few weeks ago: "I have now drafted in the ingenious recording Engineer 'Dave Buchanan' (uncanny resemblance to Moby) who has worked on various Bunnymen and Electrafixtion projects, and we are now in the process of transferring all the sounds from my trusty 'MacT' to Dave's trusty 'MacT' as audio, to mix the finished work on Pro Tools" From Ian: "He was a great guy, and we were all shocked. He's been doing Will's solo album, but we all knew him, and thought really well of him. He will be missed by everyone in the business." Pete Byrne: "He was really talented and had a very bright future ahead of him. He was the kind of guy that always had a smile on his face." - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
