COLDPLAY's CHRIS MARTIN and JOHNNY BUCKLAND appear on ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN frontman IAN McCULLOCH's new solo album . The duo are repaying the compliment after McCulloch's friendship helped COLDPLAY through he recording of their second album 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head' in Liverpool earlier this year. The band have openly acknowledged the debt, and have even covered the Bunnymenclassic 'Lips Like Sugar' at live shows this year. Mac's as-yet-untitled album, his first solo LP since 1992's 'Mysterio', is expected to be released in March. Martin sings backing vocals on two tracks, while actor John Simm, who plays in his own band Magic Alex, also features on the LP. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Oct 2002 07:36:44 -0700 From: Charles Pham Subject: seven-seas-moderated dotmusic: IN MCCULLOCH'S PLACE http://dotmusic.com/news//October2002/news26964.asp IN MCCULLOCH'S PLACE Coldplay star Chris Martin is to feature on the forthcoming solo album from Echo & The Bunnymen singer Ian McCulloch. Martin, who says the Bunnymen were an influence on Coldplay's latest album, is said to have performed on two tracks for the as-yet-untitled LP. McCulloch explained: "The thing that pleases me is that a band like Coldplay cite us so often as an influence, even though Chris has only recently got into us. And he's had no problem telling people about it. "I just think he's a lovely guy, the whole band are great blokes." He told Xfm: "He came over when I was doing my solo album, and played on two of the songs on a day when he could really have stayed in bed, and that pleases me more than the actual trophy. "[Coldplay] are the best band in the world. I saw them last night and I nearly cried three times. The last time that happened was Neil Diamond a few years ago". McCulloch's album, which has been co-produced by Cenzo Townsend, is rumoured to feature performances from a number of other well known musicians, including Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Oct 2002 08:06:58 -0700 From: Charles Pham Subject: seven-seas-moderated Ian McCulloch's new record so, from the notes i've taken regarding the new record, this is what we have so far: guests on the record: chris martin & jonny buckland (coldplay) - confirmed (nme) john simm (magic alex) - confirmed (dotmusic) peter wilkinson (cast) - unconfirmed (ivan/ianmcculloch.com) liam gallagher (oasis) - unconfirmed rumour (dotmusic) courtney love - unconfirmed rumour (nme) natalie imbruglia - unconfirmed rumour (nme) david bowie - unconfirmed rumour (nme) chris cowie - unconfirmed rumour to remix a track (ivan/ianmcculloch.com) cenzo townsend - co-producer (confirmed - dotmusic) cenzo townsend - mixing and engineering (ivan/ianmcculloch.com) ian broudie - said to be producing months ago, no longer noted as producer band members (ivan/ianmcculloch.com): mcculloch - vocals, rhythm guitar pete byrne : guitars ceri james : keyboards simon finley - drums album title - nothing rumoured so far label - initially jeepster records, now cooking vinyl (UK) and spinART (US) release date - march 2003 (ivan/nme) track titles so far (ivan/ianmcculloch.com): Baby Hold On Playgrounds And City Parks Really Really Want You Sliding anything else? ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Oct 2002 08:09:54 -0700 From: "Ivan" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas OT: the 'other' Ian Mc actually, it's not gonna be an interview...
