Just like ya don't know what ya got till it's gone (ahh, Cinderella...I always knew buttrock would haunt me till I meet the choir invisible! Let's hope said choir all have huge hair & nasally falsettos!), ya don't know what ya miss till it's back. I had no idea till Ben took the Showbox stage last night how much I'd missed him. I love, truly & deeply love this man! The new songs should always and forever only be played live, as the record totally subdues their overpowering energy. I don't know if I can listen to it again...though now I need to to get Cinder-friggin-rella outta my noggin! The "set" comprised all RtS stuff plus Hiro's Song which, as Ben confessed, should NOT have been left off the album. The best song of the bunch, if'n ya ask me! The kicker of the evening, though, was the "encore set," which consisted of Ben playing BFF faves (Best Imitation of Myself, Philosophy, One Angry Dward, and Evaporated, which nearly made me cry!) on solo piano before being rejoined by the band for SftD...a kick-fuckin-ass version it was, too! And Snuzz & Millard...welcome back, boys! I feel like I've known these guys for as long as I've known Ben's music, though this was the 1st I'd ever seen of 'em. Jim Bogios...thank GOD he got away from Sheryl Crow and the Dixie Chicks long enough to do this tour. Phenomenal drummer, and I don't say that about many! Citizen Cope...umm...how stoned WAS this guy?! DO go see this tour if you've not already. East Coasters, I think you're the only suburbs left to be rocked, as Portland & LA are sold out.
