Friends from school couldn't stop talking about in the next day, and once I saw it, I totally agreed. I loved his impressions of people around the world, and of course all his accounts of being a transvestite, especially when he combined them. Anyway, I think it would be a dynamite show....and, of course, I'm jealous. Since we're bandying about upcoming shows, Guster is finally coming to Austin! Yay, and Luscious Jackson (yay) is opening there for none other than Smashmouth (ugh). Plus Kids in the Hall! Woo hoo! And the Boss himself is coming by in April, not that I can afford the ticket if I wanted to...What does San Antonio get? Deepak Chopra at $100 a ticket. But.... we do have 90.1 KSYM, the only college station in town, with the Third Coast Music Network (see www.accd.edu/tcmn for info, I wouldn't dare to try to describe it), which you can all hear in real audio at ksym.org, M-F 3-7Central, Sa 2-6? Central, and Sunday 6-10 Central. The rest of the programming is good, too, far superior to the commercial shit in town....That's unfortunately all the music recommendations I can offer in return for all the tips I've gotten from ya'll.....katie Envying all the snow and good music anywhere but here - where we set record highs in the 80s last week... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Jan 2000 13:58:26 EST From: Eriklyons1@aol.com Subject: I'm fecking posting. dammit. First, while we are talking about RealAudio and radio stations. Nothing I have found beats WFNX in Boston during the workday. Julie Kramer kicks ass in the midday, Cruze rocks the house until I leave work, and the morning show, Asleep at the Wheel ain't too shabby. They had the dork that missed the $100 question on Millionare a few days ago. Did anybody else notice the disgust on Regis' face??? Especially since the guy was dressed like Regis and went to the damn school named after him(or his dad)....I think I laughed for about 30 minutes...Anyway, FNX has this great leftover lunch for us 30somethings who grew up in the underground(and mainstream) of the 80's. Good eating. Elliott Smith will be at the Empty Bottle in Chicago. Don't anybody buy my ticket. I am a little excited...to put it mildly. He sooths my soul. I saw the Luscious Jackson bill. Smash Mouth?? What the hell??? That is like Ben opening for John Tesh. Just 2 different groups. really. I would like to see a Ben folds concert. Anybody else in??? Ben! Call me! we'll have lunch!!!!! Gotta go. Everyone send a good vibe my way. I am taking the little darling in for a MRI. Nothing serious yet and if ya'll send the love I am sure it will all be good. I am nervous, so any vibe is a good vibe. Good people on this list = good things! HOLD ON. Ain't too shabby does not begin to describe asleep at the wheel. The show is pure brilliance. Of course MY UNCLE is one of the DJs on the show so I will stand by him! It is a great show though. I had the privelege of sitting in on one of the morning shows over the summer and it was a blast. Anyway, enjoy the show and call in and tell them Neal Robert rules! Or just check out the web cam, if I get into the building tomorrow. We'll see. I think I want to go see Eddie Izzard. I think I would be a happy girl. Im glad someone is backing me up on the fact that he is brilliant. Cool. Strange to hear people talking about Asleep At The Wheel. It is a pretty good show, and Neal Robert is my favorite dj on the show, by far. But I was quite irked when they called Brick a romantic song. Seriously. Me and my mom were yelling at the radio. Ive been listening to that show for a very long time, though. Wow. I am reading Sylvia Plath and weeping openly. I am in touch with my feelings. Elliott Smith touring- does that mean new album soom? April 11th is the release date for his new album. though if i hear it referred to as 'beatlesque' (in quotes) one more time, i will kill someone. >Why cant Rufus release something? maybe because he's drinking himself to death. but the word i got from Dreamworks the other day is that we can expect something from Rufus around July. in the meantime, Martha Wainwright is playing a show at Largo on tuesday. i'd be in if i wasn't so broke. yarrrr. ~Courtney The Sultraness of Swing "You don't know about Huggsy, my bedtime penguin pal!" _____________________________________________________________ - -- Chat, Boards & Email Powered by Everyone.net -- ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V3 #13 ********************************
