Okay, this is about last night's Beck concert, so skip down if you don't care, but I know some people have mentioned they have tix, too.... It FUCKIN ROCKED. I'll try not to spoil it for ya'll who are going to see it later. But first concert of the tour or no, it was fucking awesome. Awesome set and outfits, no more pinstriped suits... Great mix of music, Loser even! Crowd was crazy; we were at the front and were nearly crushed in the dancing, but there was no crowd surfing (yea!). Everyone was just having so much fun; beck said how great it was to be back in front of a live audience. The one disappointment was when they were going to play something unreleased, but Beck didn't have the right guitar! Ah, well. Hank Williams III opened - a really different mix of hillbilly, country, a little surf, and hard rock. Hank played acoustic guitar, with a band of electric guitar player from the Jesus Lizard, I think, acoustic bass, fiddle, and drums. The crowd actually took to it pretty well, compared to the last Austin Music Hall concert I went to. I'd love to hear what others thought of him if he opens for the rest of the tour. As for me, I'm going to go hunt down a CD and listen some more - the vocals weren't mixed very well, so it was hard to hear... Fucking awesome night. Beck!! BTW, did you notice his keyboardist? A guy with long hair (the last time I saw him anyway)? His name is Roger Manning and he rocks. He use to be in Jellyfish (one of the greatest bands ever) and then he had a band called Imperial Drag. Anyway, its good stuff. and for all of you who were afraid I wasn't goig to buy the Beck album, I've decided I will! There, are you happy? ;-) I am. I'm sure I won't like it as much as Mutations, but hey, I'm a beck fan, I gotta support the man, besides, even if its different than Mutations, it doesn't suck. Since it doesn't come out until feb 15, i ended up with BTS "there's nothing worng with love". one of the customers said it was her favorite of all bts. but we came to the conclusion that I may not like it as much since i really liked the recent album. It's catchy... versus "keep it like a secret" which is a piece of art. So far I haven't noticed this one having anything but 4/4 time. "keep it" changes time from 4/4 to 6/8 and so on. So then I was depressed and trying to figure out what to do with myself... and "Twin Falls" came on. That woke me up! My god, I can't believe what Ben did to that song... Does anyone here know what i'm talking about with Ben's cover? Why didn't i buy this BTS album way back when? I mean, I love BTS... and then Ben takes that song and just... makes it a masterpiece of sadness, and ... power.
