Stay away from Celene Dion Christmas tunes. And I want to thank the list for one more band I wouldn't have listened to if it wasn't for people on this list (Carrie): Semisonic. She tagged me on to their website before their Feeeling Strangely Fine Cd was released. I do enjoy their first stuff. Thanks Carrie. And thank god for independent record stores who carry many many many good used CDs, including [Across] the Great Divide. Nothing else new. Good luck Eric on surviving the holidays. - -Erik ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Dec 1999 10:48:11 PST From: "Elisabeth Donnelly" Subject: Holidays On Ice! Hey guys! Well, I walked into a contempo casuals the other day (wouldnt we all like it better if it was called Comtempt-o?) and there was an absolutely atrocious cutesy version of "Youre a mean one mr grinch" guess who did it? Sixpence none the richer. Other crimes against humanity? their covers of "there she goes" and the absolutely bloody cover of "dancing queen" i really try to avoid that band in all possible forms. Anyone see Man on the Moon? The Talented Mr Ripely? Im staying the hell away from the city on New Years Eve, but I hope to hang out with friends...cos' theres nothing like friends...(I guess.) But I looove Boston come holiday time. Its very swoony and romantic, with all the christmas lighting. Well, HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! And since I can type really well on this laptop at work, here's a little David Sedaris to keep you kids going. (The perfect Yankee Swap gift! Holidays On Ice! Only 8 bucks!) (Santaland Diaries excerpt-you! a macys christmas elf!) We were given a demonstration of the various positions in action, performed by returning elves who were so animated and so relentlessly cheerful that it embarrassed me to walk past them. I dont know that I could look someone in the eye and exclaim, "Oh my goodness, I think I see Santa!" or "Can you close your eyes and make a very special Christmas wish!" Everything these elves said had an exclamation point on the end of it!!!! It makes one's mouth hurt to speak with such forced merriment. I feel cornered when someone talks to me this way. Doesn't everyone? I prefer being frank with children. I'm more likely to say, "You must be exhausted" or "I know a lot of people who would kill for that little waistline of yours." I'm afraid I won't be able to provide the sort of grinding enthusiasm Santa is calling for. I'll be a low key kind of elf. ~Elisabeth ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Dec 1999 14:38:16 -0500 From: "Barbi" Subject: new countries join BFF international site Look at the countries on the BFF International site: Canada Ireland Sweden France England The Netherlands Australia Japan Germany New Zealand Singapore China Finland Colombia South Korea LOOK!!
