My sources reveal to me that Eric was decked out, in all his Erisness, at the Bf5 show. Me thinks he is still sleeping from all the fun he had. What's new on the West Coast? Any star encounters? Hump day today, and Thirsty Thursday tomorrow. I hope Anne is well rested. Any word on new material from Ben? I am not on any ther lists and don't have the fanatic nature I once lived and breathed. I hear Hanson is coming out with some new stuff. Maybe that will detour the fringe fans away from Ben and we can get back to some serious community. I have decided, after watching some of the retro MTV clips that I enjoyed the station much more when Yo! Mtv Raps was only an hour or two. That Ed Lover dance is just, super-dee-duper! And the HEad bangers ball? Man, Ben could have made a guest performance on that show. Maybe if Bf5 started touring as a heavy metal band, it would revive some of us. I am sure Quiet Riot could use some business as an opening act. And, one last comment on Mtv. IS it just me, or did Eric Nies annoy the feck out you? I think he secretly wanted to be Vanilla Ice. I wish he would have got his ass kicked on the Real World, as that would be the real world. I don't think Mtv would have picked up a wussy to host any of their shows. But I know what opinions are like. . . Any hot topics anybody wants to discuss? I am open for business. Who can predict the next big movement in main stream music? We've had grunge, then some annoying pop shit (Jewel (although she's a bit attractive to me) and Celine, I am a pop Godess), a little swing, now some injection of Latin. Lita Ford is hiding out waiting for "fucking rock and roll" to come back. I hope Meatloaf isn't part of that. Where's the hot spot for bands? We've had Seattle, North Carolina, L.A. What's next? Any hope for a folk revival? I see a trend away from electric and a movement toward more diverse music making (more experimenting). But I don't know shit. Someone else tell me what the hay-hey! Anybody else Rusted Root fans? They split up indefinitely. dammit. Hey Spencer, if I knock of Paul Shafer, do you think maybe you will get your shot with Dave? You would be wonderful! happy day! = ) - -Erik ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Oct 1999 10:19:26 -0500 From: "Anoop Ranganath" Subject: new jump dates - yay, i beat sara! I never would have looked twice at it with Limp Biscut on the cover, kid rock is in it and other Blech bands, BUT, for some reason, Ben Folds Five is in this article. It caught my eye, and I ended up buying it. Its really a nice article, 3 great pics too. It also talks about the Irish Pub in NYC that the band visited after their Irving Plaza show. Cool. The magazine is called Smug, and mostly its punk and heavy rock stuff, but there is also an article on GBV and review on Superchunk that makes it worth while. stacy What was best of all was the longing look you gave me... that longing look... I just want some props! Plus the fact that I have a midterm tomorrow and I got a bad grade on a paper for class. C'mon, where's the birthday luck? Why am I not at the Middle East watching the Shelia Divine? (Good Boston Rawk...have ya'll heard of them?) Oh, and if for some chance, you (all) were a good looking boy working at a ritzy coffee shop in Harvard, would you say yes if a cute pixieish girls asks you to a movie? (possibly Truffaut) I really hope the boy swings my way, though. He goes to Emerson, he is an actor, the likelihood is kind of low... Wish me luck! ~Elisabeth ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V2 #278 *********************************
