NEIL GAIMAN'S WRITING A *SLAP* Thanks, I needed that. ;) Anyway, I will be at the Boy's show on the 16th, so keep your eyes peeled for me. I'm still trying to decide what to wear, and in hopes of boosting the input to this list a bit, I'm asking you guys to decide. Will it be: A) Black leather jacket, mesh shirt, black jeans, and combat boots. B) Tight, 70's style shirt, blue jeans, bandanna, and a pair of Airwalks. or C) Tux with tails and patent leather shoes. I will wear my typical nametag with "Officer Friendly's Little Boy" with any of these outfits, but I just wanted to see what you guys thought. Oh yeah, and I do own the tux. ;) Anyway, tell me what you think. Laters! Hail Eris! ERIC ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Sep 1999 09:02:30 CDT From: "Erik Lyons" Subject: "the tighter the better" well, that's how I try to focus on things, eric. Once again, PLAYBOY has nominated Ben Folds in the category of "Instrumentalist" in the year end artists of the year poll. If ther was ever a topic to discuss on a list, this may be it. When WAEA was the *bomb*, PLAYBOY was loving it. Even inserted it into the playlist for the 1999 bash. However, when it comes time to recoginize artists at years end, they keep separating Ben from the the other four members of Ben Folds Five. AND, they throw him in the Intrrumentalist category. As many of you are college students on this list (hey, me too, back in grad school), I am sure you recoginze the many arguments that can be made for both sides. Anybody want to throw some caution out the door and hit this situation head on? I know Anne (provided she isn't on Space Mountain) will have a SOLID argument one way or another. And Marcus, being the staunch musician/democrat (yes, you can't separate them) will provide a nice commentary. But what about some of the rest of you lurkers? We would love to hear your opinions, and rest assured you will be respected for them and not, shall we say, slammed for them. I for one am wrestling with this subject, as the first time PLAYBOY nominated him, I could better understand why. But now the line is blurred for me. Do I need contacts or can someone give me the lowdown? In other news, I have developed the black-ball label here in Illinois Republican circles for publishing an article that points out the fact our Governor-elect went back on a "campaign promise"(I suppose there are many definitions to this term) to not raise taxes. The article was not in ridicule, but rather in jest as the tax dollars are purportedly going to help the state (hire do-nothings with connections) improve many ongoing projects (the forever road contructions). Hey, satirical comedy is my life. So before I leave, one last inquiry: How many of you, when reading the subject line, let your mind drift to that place where only you have the key? Don't lie, because you THINK only you have the key. I have surveillance set up all OVER the place...I attended the Linda Tripp Acedemy of "I'm gonna expose your world" ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V2 #260 *********************************
