I back up everything that's been said previously; Darren is immensely talented as a songwriter and lyricist and hearing him solo on some of his new work was a really great experience. At the Knitting Factory show, he mentioned before "Magic" that "this is a song you'll be sick of next year", and at CB's he said "next time I'm back here I'll have a band with me", indicating that the much-debated future of our boys seems brighter, at least in his eyes. Which is certainly as good a sign as one could have hoped for. I wanted to get some mp3 samples of the show up, but my lousy computer hasn't been liking recording four-minute wav files without skipping, so I've ditched that idea for now. I did manage to piece together what I'm pretty confident is a good representation of his lyrics from the two tapes I made, which are available at http://dan.nodata.org/darren.txt. Yes, I'm too lazy to write HTML. That's why my site hasn't been updated since July 3 :) We were told indirectly by Alan Wolmark after the CB's show that there was not to be any circulation of the Darren tapes, but I did tape both nights and Leigh got the CB's show on Minidisc...at this point, I'm unsure if I really can respect Alan's philosophy on this subject, considering that if he was so concerned about keeping the new stuff on the DL, why did they webcast the shows? It makes very little sense to me, but I suppose that's The Man for you. So don't assume that it's impossible to get a copy of Darren Jessee acoustic :) Just realize that there are people who will be pissed off if it does get out. Although I'm fairly sure concert taping goes on unheeded against many bands' official policies, and that has yet to stop the tapers, I'm torn at this point. On one hand, I realize exactly how sought-after these two shows are, and on the other hand I want to respect the wishes of the artist. D'oheth. - -Dan ps. Train still sucks :) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 09 Aug 1999 22:32:55 MST From: "Sari Beliak" Subject: Kate? OK kids. I am hoping at least one of you oh-so intelligent souls can help me with this. I was at Zia Records the other day and I always chech out their BFF imports. I found one that I hadn't seen before (or at least that I can remember). It is an old 'Kate' import. Its just pictures of who I am assuming is kate on the cover. For anybody that has this, can you please tell me if this is the 'ska remix' of kate. I already own that so if anyone knows, is there anything else on their? I didn't buy it yet hoping one of you could help me here. If you have absolutely no idea what I am talking about here, forgive me. That is all that I know about this import and oh yeah it was only 6$ too. Hooray. Thanks a lot. Oh BTW, while on the cd subject I got LAID by James. No the cd, not the person. sounds so naughty...
