With a raving crush on Blair Witch director Eduardo Sanchez??? Rrrrowrrrr... I think its the triangle goatee thing.=) I cant go see Blair Witch myself, as it will f*** me up greatly. I hate having an easily subsceptible mind! Tonight, I go see Moby. Live. Yay! And tomorrow, Lyle Lovett!!! But that cannot compare to Markus + Courtney's awesome festivals. Just the fact that courtney has seen the band that eludes me, the jsbx. I swear there is a curse against me ever seeing them...things just go wrong when they're in town. Ben Lee played a free show on the Hatchshell, he was wonderful live, wiping away some of the hostility I have towards him because of his El Sucky Second album "if you were here id slap you senseless..." and Claire Danes. Im so over her. "Um, I go to Yale, and Im, like, friends with celebrities, and i heart ben lee!!!!" I also saw Ozomatli recently, who were very good and very fun. I want to see Fight Club. That movie looks so...different! The interviews about it are very interesting, and I really liked the preview for it, which had "Where is my mind" by the Pixies. Ive been listening to Death to the Pixies..such a good album! Luscious Jackson + Cibo Matto next week, I hope they do sugar water so I can do a little Buffy dance. Ha! Oh, and why did the SPIN 90 albums fail to mention Grace, by Jeff Buckley? I'm ah pissed. ~Elisabeth _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Let's see if this brings about a threat of this list's demise again. The twins are fraternal. That means boy and girl. Launch or whatever is stupid. Actually, a good majority of the media is stupid. Ben was trying to decide between Oscar or Louis for the boy's name, he asked Sandi for her opinion, if that helps clear up this whole debate. I'm very jealous of all these kick-ass festival shows on the west coast. My hometown's crappy festival will get Lit, if they're lucky. Feh. I'm just going to have to wait for the MABD show and REM/Wilco, then set my sights on getting to DC for the Whigs and then whoever I'm gonna see while I'm in England. And cry when Courtney tells me about the KROQ show. Okay. I think that's the most I've written to this list in months. I'm tired now. While I was gone, it was like every day, it was awesome, I saw Jude 4 times, I saw Looper, I saw Starbelly and ANDY BOPP!!! (One of my favorite songwriters), and Old 97s, and THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS! btw, anyone listen to the webcast of that show? You probably heard me and Jackie and Rey (mostly me!) yelling about Arizona. And I saw Train! woo! Though, I'm not a fan of train (I'm sorry to anyone that is but when that song comes on the radio, I can't help but laugh...) but they are such nice guys with *terrific* stage banter - and - they do a cover of Brad and Suzy. >Ben Lee played a free show on the Hatchshell, he was wonderful live, wiping >away some of the hostility I have towards him because of his El Sucky Second >album "if you were here id slap you senseless..." and Claire Danes. Im so *gasp* say it isn't so....his second album is my favorite. As much as I love his new one, I wish it wasn't so looped and drum machined sometimes, and his 1st one, though I love it (and even had a picture of green hearts on my desktop for the longest time) his second one is so much more grown up. >over her. I think i's probably the best black comedy since Heathers. i laughed my ass off. but i suppose that's to be expected when a movie is directed by an alumni of The State. ooh, and we saw a trailer for "Dog Park" (Luke Wilson, yay!), and they used Looper's "Burning Flies" in it. yay to that, but thumbs down to natasha henstridge being the love interest. feh. just so Elisabeth doesn't feel bad, jsbx had eluded me for a very long time until last week in Seattle. so there IS hope. Let me tell you Courtney, you are in LA, and right now, all around you, is one of my all time must see festivals. I'd die and go to heaven if I were to go. Its called IPO, short for International Pop Overthrow. Its put together by the one and only David Bash who is just amazing for having done this. Its over 2 weeks, I think, with multiple shows each night. All powerpop stuff like Plasticene, Phantom Planet, Shoes, Starbelly, Myracle Brah, Gladhands, Rubinoos, Love Nut. Spill, Cockeyed Ghost.... the list goes on, such fabulous bands that no one knows about because this genre of music is the most obscure. Plus the fact that some AWESOME people are seeing these shows who I'd love to meet. The second best festival ever is CMJ in NYC which I went to last year and loved loved loved, and if I ever get out of debt, I'll go again. =-) oh yeah, bentent. Powerpop-the genre I discovered because early Ben Folds Five is powerpop. =-) stacy The best things in life don't make any sense -Odds "The Best Things" Stacy Lynn stacyf@u.arizona.edu http://www.u.arizona.edu/~stacyf icq: 7641939 ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V2 #221 *********************************
