Markus, you can have Brandi, just as long as I get Mia. I might just be falling for the hype, but damn, she's gorgeous. And Carlton Fisk is and always will be a White Sox man. I don't care whatever policies the Hall of Fame might have. And I may be only be a decent actor, but I can still pahk a cah in Hahvad Yahd. ;) Hey, you spend 4 years listening to it, you get a wicked good hang of the sound. And the lyrics to All Star are: Hey now You're a Rock Star Get your show on Get laid. I don't care if the band disagrees with me, it just sounds better that way. And all that glitters is gold... ;) Hail Eris! ERIC ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Jul 1999 08:56:16 -0400 From: Anne Sawyer Subject: Short post... ...I'm still drunk. Hey all! Tried to get tickets to the All-Star game last night from a scalper. Didn't work out (well, the price was a bit too steep). So, instead, we went to a bar right outside Fenway. Can I tell you how cool it was to be watching the apres-Anthem flyby on TV, and then all of a sudden to hear the jets go by overhead? Way. Feckin'. Cool. Oh, god damn, I said god damn... I am SO going to be hurting later on today. And FYI... the mojo is out of CONTROL, people! Out. Of. Control. Talk to you all tomorrow when I am sober. Take care! - -Anne ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Jul 1999 11:42:33 -0400 From: "Griffith, Brian" Subject: Carlton Fisk I'm sorry to post further non-Bentent material, but, on account of the battling baseball posts between Anne and Eric, I am forced to enter my two cents into the ring. It doesn't matter what color sox Carlton Fisk wears at his induction into the Hall. He will forever be remembered as the catcher for the BoSox for no other reason than the 1975 World Series -- sorry to drag up more tragic moments, Anne. How many times a day are the baseball fans of America forced to watch that home run???? As a lifelong Reds fan, I am personally sick of it, but I realize that it was a great moment, and we will be watching it forever. By the way, (insert heavy sarcasm) it's a little known fact that the Reds won the 1975 Series. And, with all due respect to the '27 Yankees, the '75 Reds were the greatest team of all time. (It's true, they dominated more offensive categories to greater degree than any other team in history, and they also had Gold Gloves at every position up the middle.) However, most people in this country would never know that because Carlton Fisk hit that damn home run!!!! Speaking of the All Star game and the '75 Reds, once again, Pete Rose is snubbed by baseball. Although he is on the ballot for the century's greatest players, he was not invited to the ceremony at Fenway last night. They wouldn't even put his picture up in the stands with everyone else. What a crock!!!! I'm not excusing his actions, but, if he had failed a drug test or solicited a prostitute or worse, he would have been forgiven long ago. One last thing -- baseball fans everywhere, repeat after me: "Save Fenway!!!!" I was planning to watch Buffy lsat night, but the opportunity to hang around in Boston came up. I got my thrill on Beacon Hill! (hardy har har) So, someone, spill. Is the dastardy Faith dead and gone? Where are the kids going off to? Was Willow valdevictorian? (always always always one of the crew on any tv shew is val) Its fun hanging around in Boston lately. Ive seen so many tourists. Also, Ive seen a lot of good looking Irish guys.;) and Ive been giving them directions! Oh, be proud of me, I got a 4 on my calculus AP. Especially nice considering that my mom was the teacher, so I really wanted to do well on the test, because I see how hard she works, blah blah blah... It started b/c Anne said she has been listening to the new Sebadoh disc alot in her car and wondered where I have been. As luck may have it, I too am a big Sebadoh fan, and had the chance to see them last night in St. Louis where they opened for the Flaming Lips. I have seen Sebadoh before and they rocked as usual, and Jason Lowenstein, the bass player, is the nicest person. We chatted with him for about 20 minutes. . . .it kind of reminded me of our Darren experience in Milwaukee, E, but I digress. . . and look there is Bentent, hee, hee. Well, actually it does have Bentent b/c our boys covered "She Don't Use Jelly" Anyway, I just have to tell you all that the Flaming Lips are fricking incredible. I had a near religious experience (and for those of you who know me, doesn't happen often :-) It was just the most fabulous mind-altering multi-media experience I have ever had. They had headphones for the crowd, a video screen, a gong, and Wayne used hand puppets, confetti and silly string like there was no tomorrow, of course if any of y'all have the new disc, I am sure you know what I mean about there being no tomorrow. I was right in front of Wayne at this very small club and thought I was going to die. The man is a true genius. I want to have his children (and again, for those who know me, this never happens). So anyway, go, go, go to the nearest record store and immediately buy the new disc and see the show, caravan, musical revue, etc if it comes to a town near you. You won't be disappointed. Hope everyone is doing well.
