They RAWKED! I lost my voice from screaming (especially the big heavy metal finish). I mean, I couldn't let Ben think that people in the Northeast are a bunch of p*ssies. *grin* Seriously, though. I know others from this list were there -- so I will leave it to them to give set lists and whatnot. But all I have to say is... energy of the band was high, energy of the crowd was high... and they continually fed off each other. Not even a broken distortion pedal could mar this show! As to meeting people... I was shouting "Rockford Files?" to all the people holding up "Where's Summer B.?" -- but to no avail. :( In case y'all DID see me and just didn't recognize me... I was on the right side of the stage (Robert's side) by the big pole. I was wearing a grey sleeveless t-shirt dress and my hair was very curly (Hello Humidity!). I was rockin' out right behind a tall dark haired guy. Oh! Note on Jude's set -- it was Excellent. And I happened to be standing next to Jude's uncle and cousin... they're from Bristol, RI (leave it to me to chat up the relatives!). Basically I had a blast. It ruled. But now I have WAY to much work to do before I get on my plane tomorrow and head toward Markus Country (by the time you non loose-mail people read this, I will be winging my way to Seattle!!!). Look out Markus, here I come!!! Take care, all! - -Anne _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Exactly how many people were holding up Summer B signs? I seriously didn't think it would continue past DC since it worked there, although the instructions said to try it in Worcester, Providence, NYC if it didn't. Still really cool, though. And nice to see the boys still have great shows in them. - -Dan - -----Original Message----- From: Anne Sawyer To: rockford-files@smoe.org Date: Thursday, June 24, 1999 11:27 AM Subject: I think I'm still recovering... >...from the best f*ckin' BFF show I've ever seen! They played a nice set which Leigh will probably post for ya'll. I don't think I can elaborate too much more than that right now. All I can say was it was great meeting all the people I met last night and I look forward to seeing some of the again tonight. Yay us. Yay ben folds five. I shouldn't have been so snappy. In defence of myself, the last I checked, this was a mailing list very loosly dedicated to Ben Folds Five that was formed after lots of bickering on the MA. I've seen posts on here about all kinds of things. Courtney posts about movie reviews, her internship, that 70s Show. Tavia posts about her new position teaching (though its not so new now, is it?) Eric posts about various love triangles... people talk about college applications... and there are a slew of posts about good bands besides Ben Folds Five. I was posting about something in my life that I enjoyed and thought someone on this list might enjoy to read some good concert reviews, even if they were not BFF reviews. I love reading all of the concert reviews even when they're about Better Than Ezra. =) Really good bands (or at least somewhat decent bands) never tour near Jacksonville, FL and they have good reasons too considering everyone here listens to shania twain nonstop. what a sick world we live in. I just saw from Frank Maynard's page that BFF is planning a tour in Germany. =*( is it too much to ask for just one show in florida? anywhere in FL. The atlanta show just HAD to be during my exams. arg. that was close enough, just bad bad bad timing. Sad news: My only friend who likes Ben Folds Five just as much as I do is moving to Chicago..... sniff sniff... the good side: it looks like BFF likes playing chicago so he might actually get to go to a concert. Alright news: I think the chemical brothers/ low fidelity allstars/ orbital are actually coming here... i might get off my butt to go to that show. the music aint my cup of tea but it sounds better than sitting around my house doing needle point. ummmm... im really bored.. so ill just babble =) thats a signal to either delete or scroll down the page incase you haven't already done so, hehe. I learned to play Magic on the piano. Yesterday I gave my friend (the one who is moving) a mini BFF concert Jessy style, hehe. The setlist: the beginning of narcolepsy, the very beginning of army, almost all of Kate, all of Evaporated, Magic, Brick, Cigarette, some Hospital Song, Fair and for the grand finale... My verision of Song For the Dumped which would involve just pounding on random keys. I taught myself how to play piano. I can already read music cause ive played the flute for so long and i know chords and stuff from my music theory class. Well, everyone keep on rockin at the concerts! That whole Summer B request thing sounded awesome!!! Great idea guys!
