Here is last weeks post, nicely sent back to me from my man Erik. _____________________________________________________________________ for Courtney, who I fear is also out of the loop Super Furry Animalswise. The Super Furry Animals come from Wales, dearie :) and i know i have a fairly big accent, but i've got nothing on a welshman. The band met in Cardiff sometime in 1993 and were orginally a techno outfit that toured around Brittany. All the band members had been other welsh languages bands before coming together as the Super Furry Animals. A pre-Super Furry Animals trio of Gruff, Guto, and Daf toured with Anhrefn in Europe. After a period of inactivity the Super Furry Animals began in earnest. They released two EP's on the Welsh indie label Ankst which were recorded with producer Gorwell Owens in his home studio in the Anglesey village of Llanfaelog. They signed to Creation after Alan McGee saw them at their first London show at the Splash Club. They have a clause in their contract with Creation that says they never have to work on St. Davids Day. After the release of two singles on Creation, came their debut album Fuzzy Logic. Fuzzy Logic was recorded at the legendary ROCKfield (kinda like ROCKFORD :)studios in Wales. It's a brilliant album and you should go out and buy it now, if you haven't got it already. Also, like to add that Wimbledon is coming up soon, and my gut feeling is for the Aussies like Rafter, Philliposis and Stoltenberg to rock that place out. Watch out :) And Australia is going to win the World Cup of Cricket.Bam.Toodoloo.Jordan PS. We did win the cricket. Shit yeah it's cool. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? And Thank God For Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel! Hey all! Hey FL... thanks so much for the heads-up! Yep-indeedy, BFF cancelled (or postponed -- depends on where you get your info) their Worcester, MA show (that'd be Wormtown to those of you in the know!) but they ARE still on for Providence (as of 10 am Tuesday, June 22nd) So that is a good thing. Especially since I had been hemming and hawing abotu whether I was going to go to both shows! This made my decision pretty damn simple. :) I am stoked to go -- especially after hearing how incredible the DC show was... and they even played Jane -- one of my favorites off of TUBewORM. In other news... I've three more days until I get to meet the Markus. How cool is that??? Even now I can hear him busily planning my free time in the Seattle/Portland areas. And will I be meeting any other Rockfjordians? Perhaps at the Providence show? Here's the Anne description... I'm not yet sure what I'll be wearing, but I am: 5'4" Curvy (I've been called Rubenesque... which is probably a nice way of saying I could lose a few! *grin*) Blondish hair -- somewhere between chin and shoulder length Green-blue eyes Big grin Loud laugh I'll be with a shorter brown haired woman and a taller (5'7"?) brown haired woman (the taller one is strikingly pretty... so she might be someone you could look for...) LOOK FOR ME! Start randomly asking people if they are "Anne... from the RF". Or better yet... get on someone's shoulders and start yelling... "I LOVE YOU ANNE! TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY!" I might just reply... In other news. Guess how scored tickets to Bruce Springsteen's opening night in Boston? That's right... I AM GOING TO SEE THE BOSS, BABY! And I even scored good seats... Lower Loge seats -- so we are almost on the floor -- but with an unobstructed view! I ended up getting 8 tickets -- 4 are loge and 4 are balcony... but since I was the one who got them all, I have nominated me to get the loge seats. *grin* Now, you younguns on the list -- you might not understand my excitement... but Bruce is my boy. The nights I spent drinking and singing Born To Run & Thunder Road at the tops of my lungs in college -- now THOSE are some memories. And to see the man in concert (well, to tell the truth I *did* see him one.... but it was his acoustic solo tour that he did just after releasing The Ghost of Tom Joad -- so it wasn't the REAL Bruce, if you catch my drift). Man-o-man, am I one excited little chica. Now I just need a date! I think I'll be able to use my tickets as bait to lure someone into my wicked little snare... Welp. That's all for me for today! Later all you babes in toyland! - -Anne So you're scared and you're thinkin' that Maybe we ain't that young anymore... Well, show a little Faith There's Magic in the night. You ain't a beauty... But hey, you're alright. Oh, and that's alright with me. :) _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Hey all! I know I haven't been posting much in the past year or so, but I'd like to say so long to y'all until september. I've got the chance to study at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. I fly from Minneapolis to Reykjavík, Iceland on July 1 and to Amsterdam shortly after. I can't check my mail regularly, so I'll just have to catch up in the fall. It's so cool that the DC show rocked so much, makes me a bit jealous. Last concert I went to was Edgefest in Somerset, WI. Dropkick murphies, Cake, Offspring, Def Leppard, Hole, Bosstones (not to be confused with Anne's The Boss), Sponge and a bunch of others. It was a lot of fun. I'm still hooked on Minnesota based folk artists. Stuart Davis and the Mason Jennings Band are awe inspiring. Check them out at www.stuartdavis.com and www.visi.com/~masonj/. Stu has some MP3s that are pretty cool. He was a guest on my radio show a month or two ago. Great guy. Speaking of radio shows... KUMM is finally going online for real Audio broadcasting. I'l let you know. Have a great summer and long live the RF! Tom ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Jun 1999 08:37:41 PDT From: Markus Kamp Subject: Ain't That a Shame!
