My boyfriend and I left Ann Arbor in the morning, and had a nice drive down there (overcast, thank goodness, as we had no AC in the car). We got there around 3:30, hours before the 8:30 show. I wanted to try to find the venue, he wanted to check into a motel right off the turnpike, and he let me win, but he was mad at me for it. So we drove, trying to find the venue, getting lost because of bridge closures and detours and stuff. Thank goodness I bought a map the day before! After not speaking, except to look at the map to try to find out where we were, we got completely lost. Then we kind of made up as we realized we were truly lost and worked together to find the venue. We found it 2 hours later, and after a lot of frustration. Instead of trying to find our way back to a cheap motel, we found a room at the Sheraton that was right next to the Ampitheatre. Man, did we look out of place in the lobby in our grubby, sweat soaked t shirts and shorts next to people in dress clothes, but they let us have a room (the clerk looked at us funny and quoted the price right up front - somewhat rude in my eyes). So we showered and got to go out to eat and have some beers before the show, and walked over to the venue around 8. We had some great seats (I could see everything - and I got these from calling ticketmaster 2 weeks prior to the date at random!). We even had some fans nearby who were dancing and going nuts, so we had a great time joining in the fun. Our favorite was BOWCCL, as it was the song that my boyfriend would whistle around me after we first met, the song that brought us together over a year ago. The next day we woke up, and he took me to IKEA, and I just love that place (it's the closest store to us in MI)! I wandered around in a daze, picking up a couple of useful (and so inexpensive!) items on the way. Then we headed back to Ohio, and on a total whim, we hit Cedar Point for the late admission fee just as it kicked in. It was very uncrowded, which was so cool, as my boyfriend hates waiting in long lines for rides. We got on many main ones after a 15 min. or less wait! Totally fun! It was also cool to find out that he was a bigger chicken when it comes to roller coasters than I am (but I'd never admit that to him). Then we drove home, late tonight. We sang along with BFF and Belle and Sebastian to keep ourselves awake at 2 am - we love to sing along with songs, and we both have horrible voices but we love to do it anyway (in private, would never subject another person to our off-key singing). A very bonding weekend for my boyfriend and I, not to mention seeing a great BFF show, which was the highlight!
