OK, apparently I never hit "send" the first time (duh) ... but if I *did* and this has been posted already, well, sorry! :) Figured it was time to introduce myself ... I've been on this list for more than a year, and I think I've posted like, twice (way back when). Anyway, hi, I'm Jen. I'm a copy editor/paginator/graphics girl at the Tracy Press (a newspaper in podunk Central Calif.) ... I also moonlight as an editorial assistant (a.k.a. slave) at The Modesto Bee. But I promise not to be a grammar-cop here. People *hate* it when I do that ... That damned piano band rocks my world, as does Fountains of Wayne, They Might Be Giants, Tori Amos, Cake, The Murmurs, Keely Smith and so so so many more. And I love the "Annie" soundtrack, Eskimo Pies and The Pottery Barn. That pretty much sums up my life. Anyway, I'll be at the June 13 show @ the Warfield in S.F. ... anyone else gonna be there (need I ask)? I saw them there last year and ended up getting crushed to death (I lived though, how 'bout that ...) because I'm short and people have this urge to step on me I guess. I'll be in line super-early (in a perfect world), so if anyone will be there, let me know and we can entertain each other with witty stories of never *ever* meeting the band that has changed my life. Ahem. Ok, bye now. Jen Jennifer Auletto auletto@pacbell.net ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Jun 1999 11:07:53 EDT From: "it's me!!" Subject: sigh Hi there! Okay my friends... What's up?? I know the Rockford Files is so much better than the Magical Armchair so how come I only got one response to my request?? Here it is again. I would like whomever has time to e-mail their favourite album, demo, and LIVE tracks by Ben Folds Five (I just might have a live track that you like, I have a bunch of live tapes) And here's something else if you would like a copy of the Ultimate BFF mixesd tape then you can send me a blank tape and some postage $ and you'll get it. C'mon I have to show the MA that the RF really cares. Thanx to Alyson Christopher for sending me her top ten list:) See ya Alex BTW I understand that some of you have a life and better things to do so...yeah ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Jun 1999 11:42:34 EDT From: Anne Sawyer Subject: Don't leave me high... ...don't leave me dry Hey all! Got Radiohead on the brain... listened to The Bends on the way to work. Rawkin' me. And today is Friday, which makes me happy... And I got two mentions in the RF... which may make me cool! *grin* What a way to start my day... Court-nay! Actually, I believe the reason they postponed the season finale was not because of the mayor/serpent and other assorted bad guys, but because The Buffster leads the graduating class in some serious ass-kicking... complete with a sword and various other implements of death & destruction. I think they looked at it and said... "Y'know, if just one crazy graduate gets the brilliant idea to knife the superintendent when they go up to get their diploma because of this show..." But I hear ya. And yeah... I think they will make a big deal about when they choose to air the episode. After all, it'll be a new episode in the midst of re-run hell! Or, if you just can't wait -- I did read that a Canadian viewer did post the episode online someplace (Yep. It did air on the original date in the Great White North...). So if you've got a cable modem or a T1 and you just HAVE to see the finale... you can go in-search-of! Markus! Don't you call this a regular jam I'm gonna rock this land Look out Portland and Seattle... Marquis Markus and I will be painting both paling towns bled white! You got that itinerary set up yet, M? (I'm sure you do.) Hail Eris and Markus! Softball: I've been playing on my old company's team. Scratch that... I've been playing really well on my old company's team! *grin* But seriously... my last two games I've gone 2-4 with two doubles, and I've turned two double plays in the field (they have me playing second). Not bad for a girl... (KIDDING, obviously). But it is a co-ed team... which I like better than single-sex play (but haven't I always loved co-ed play more? *grin*) Actually, I'm just psyched to be playing again... it's been a couple of years since I've played on a team. Back to work with me... my boss just cracked the whip! *grin* Devotedly yours, - -Anne You just sit there wishing you could still make love _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. I am working as of right now, and my job provides much down time, and I was wondering if any o' ya'll have book recommendations. I myself just bustled through White Oleander, I dont know if I liked it, but I am so frickin sick of the coming of age genre, the genre of novel I admittedly chow down. So what books kicked? What do you read repeatedly? ~Elisabeth _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Guess who is going to the Joan of Arc concert on Sunday in Phoenix? Yours truely! I'm so excited. Not sure how many of you are familiar with this emo-ish band, but let me tell you, I just LOVE them. I saw them in NYC in early november at CMJ and they were just incredible. My favorite concerts go in this order: Ben Folds Five and Jude, Ben Folds Five and Robbie Falks (ick on Robbie Falks though, I'm sorry, I can't stand them), Ben Lee and Rufus Wainwright, and number 4 is Euphone/(2 bands I forget-they weren't my style anyway)/Jets to Brazil/Joan of Arc/The Promise Ring. That was just an amazingly fantastic show. I love Jade Tree. Now I'm in an all emo-y mood. I'm listening to Joe Christmas right now. Good Stuff! (thanks John!!) Anyway, joan of arc = good stuff. Going up to Phoenix = fun stuff. Now I just need to find someone to go with. stacy The best things in life don't make any sense -Odds "The Best Things" Stacy Lynn stacyf@u.arizona.edu http://www.u.arizona.edu/~stacyf icq: 7641939 ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Jun 1999 03:22:07 EDT From: Lennonita@aol.com Subject: Aaah. Not to be a snot, but it's fun having rich friends. My friend Peter, with whom I went to the concert tonight, is the son of the vice president of some division of one of the casino companies who own Mandalay Bay (the House of Blues that the concert was in is in the Mandalay Bay hotel/casino). Therefore, we got the coveted all access passes. We watched the show from BACKSTAGE! Watched Ben Lee with Ben Folds! Talked to them after the show! More about the show later. I felt like sharing. I don't mean to brag, but it was just a very nice experience. As usual, the guys were quite kind and amazingly good. What an incredible show. I love them. They are my favorites. They make me happy.
