They covered the Talking Heads' 'Road To Nowhere,' which was really great, and then they encored with 'Whippin' Piccadilly,' which is just the best song ever. I was hopping around like a big spazz the entire time. it ruled. Mojave 3 opened and were lovely and had a pedal steel, which i simply adore. they're playing an instore at Virgin tomorrow, but i don't think i can get anyone to take me. Gomez are going to be on KCRW tomorrow morning at 11:15 PDT, so if anyone wants to listen to it in real audio, go to http://www.kcrw.org and they've got a live stream. yay. they're playing again tomorrow night at the Troubadour, but argh, i don't think i can go because it conflicts with my show. but hell, if i can find someone to cover me for the first hour, i am SO there. and Casey, Dan came by today to drop off my tickets and mentioned that you'd talked to him. i'm amazed constantly how my world keeps shrinking. and then when i get home from the show tonight, i find a message on my machine from our very own Markus, who is HERE in the Southland area. so word. have a glamalicious evening :) ~Courtney The Sultraness of Swing "I want a taquito." - -- ************* ICQ: 24901402 AOL IM: CourtSpork Laugh until you wet yourself; read The Shrubbery. http://www.theshrubbery.prohosting.com Listen to my radio show, "Swing and the Single Girl" every Tuesday night from 12-4am PST live in Real Audio at http://kscr.usc.edu. ************* ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Apr 1999 16:05:35 EDT From: GrnEgNham@aol.com Subject: darrin? hey all... blah blah blah...random reader...apathetic...ok. yes bought new album. yes yes. great great. reason i am writing: have any of you seen the CMJ mag with them? maybe this has been brought up before but... I do indeed like the new album, but I'm on a break from repairing my damn Aiwa. Blasted dust particles. It wouldn't read TUBORM consistently. I had to rip to MP3 and play throughout the line-in (just a note for all you fellow tech-heads). Oh, tonite is election nite for KUMM. I'm running for station manager, so keep your fingers crossed. Reviewed TUBORM for the school paper but have a paragraph or so to add after listening to the "real" thing (taped it off of WFNX but my reception was sorta crappy, especially for last three tracks). Anyway, needless to say it's a glowing review--I'll post the address when it's up on the Web tomorrow--but am particularly loving Regrets and Plans, which reminds me way too much of my own life. I am so psyched for Tufts on Saturday! Wish I could have made it to more area shows, but I really couldn't afford it. Off to watch the accompanying video, Katy "i thought about the hours wasted watching t.v. drinking beer i thought about the things i thought about until immobilized with fear" ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V2 #139 *********************************
