I would say that I am obsessed with BFF to some degree, but I have no idea if I am a "big fan." I'm from Chicago originally but I currently reside in Madison, WI as a student at UW-Madison. Moving on to the important stuff... I sent this to the Armchair also but I would like all BFF fans in on this if it is at all possible. I am trying to organize some kind of a Armchair/Rockford Files people meeting at the May 3rd Chicago show because I want to meet the people whose mail I have been reading for the last couple years. So if you are interested in setting up a meeting place, etc. then email me personally and then, hopefully, we can work something out. = ) Nice meetin' ya'll, Matty J @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ matty j. mbjacobs@students.wisc.edu AIM- Lifeisski ICQ# 25174853 If you want to be happy, be. Has anybody been watching this show? Having spent four years in school in L.A>, I find that it really hits home ("I am the _Museum_ of Tolerance"). But I'm wondering if it will make it - is it as amusing to people who haven't lived there? It's supposed to be somewhat like Seinfeld, in that it's supposed to be funny with and without the "L.A>-only" jokes, but not knowing anything about New York, it's hard for me to compare the New Yorkiness of Seinfeld to the L>A>iness of ILYK...just curio what other people were thinking. The only thing I've heard about the enhanced/non-enhanced TUBORM is this from World Party Music's website, which actually sounds more like an import... "Cancelled Note the following item has been cancelled by the manufacturer. The Japanese edition is still scheduled for release later this month. So if you have pre-order this item, we will unfortunately have to cancel it. BEN FOLDS FIVE-UNAUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY OF Scheduled Release Date: 04/19/99 Limited edition pressing of the trio's 1999 outing with enhanced material added as a bonus. ($27.98) " but that's not surprising (that I haven't heard anything), considering that S.A> is not the music capital of the world by any stretch of the imaginiation, although, strangely enough, it is REM's only Texas stop on this tour. At the polo grounds, no less. Does anyone else have the problem of typing a > instead of a . after the second capitalized letter of a two-word-name city? Well, I got all psyched, 'cause I was going to have my copy of TUBoRM first in the city, at precisely the stroke of midnight on Monday, but my dream has been deferred. And it went out like a blister in the sun, not a raisin. Anyway, I'm trekking down to Ohio on Saturday to go straighten out my love life, and knowing my luck, throw a few new kinks in there as well. Urgh. Anyway, a big hug goes out to Sandi and Ginger, just because they're cresent fresh. And I'm off like a prom dress, kiddies. Laters! Rob played some of the Bass lines for the new stuff on an old Moog type keyboard (Mess, Redneck Past, parts of Narcalepsy), Darren had an arsenal of percussion instruments to play with...timpanis, gongs, shakers, tamborines, etc....wonderful!!! The show on sunday nite : the band played really well, the crowd, though, was seriously the worst crowd i have ever encountered at a Ben Folds show, they just weren't into it, and therefore the band wasn't totally into it...no really funny stuff or goofy stunts or jams and such....they didn't even think it was worth it to come out to the merch. tables and sign stuff afterwards, which they have been doing at every show this tour just about so far.... However, wednesday nites show made up for it.....everyone at the TLA was totally into it, the band was into it, Rob was hilarious, Ben played the sanford and son theme song on the melodica during SFTD, they played Jane instead of Lullaby, and instead of Fair, we got Eddie Walker and.....UNCLE WALTER!!! that made my nite.... anyway....they sounded great, the new songs were incredible, and the shows were a whole lot of fun.....i only wish i had the time like Leigh to go to pretty much every stop on this run of the tour :) ha ha anyway that be all ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Apr 1999 17:42:27 -0500 From: "Thomas Kluis" Subject: Rufus Video and sebadoh Hey! I was just craft enough to score the "EPK" (Revised) 12 minute Rufus Wainwright video from Geffen. I'm without VCR so I haven't watched it, but I'm willing to trade it for some bootlegs of BFF or other shows. Send me some mail if you'd like this VHS tape. Sebadoh was pretty good about a week ago. Honestly, I know Harmacy really well, but Bakesale and The Sebadoh not as well. I did boot it so let me know if you want to trade for that, too. Umm, I love the dropkick murphies. just so you know.
