Courtney- Props for lauding The Matrix. I saw it on Friday night and I dug it big time. It's basically a bit of every sci-fi/cyber flick of the past 10 years rolled into one. And it borrows HEAVILY from Dark City, Total Recall, and Terminator, but it does so very well. And although Keanu still cannot act (sorry Courtney, he's playing "Ted" again) the rest of the film more than makes up for it. I walked out of the theatre doing kung fu moves on my brother and freestyle walking up the walls. I think closing the credits with Rage Against The Machine helped get me going too. Waaaaaaaaaaaake Uuuuuuuuupppppp!! Ginger- where was I this week? I think I should have been in CH partying with all the fine women! :-) All right everybody, can you feel the wonder of the BFF tour breathing down your neck? It's a mere 12 days until the Bowdoin show! I can hardly contain myself! And, to repeat myself once again, the new Fountains of Wayne album comes out on Tuesday. It is soo soo good, so much pop and rock all rolled into one. I can ask for no more! - Leigh 13 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Apr 1999 11:18:51 -0500 From: "Thomas Kluis" Subject: Stu Davis, Memphis, Edgefest '99, Sebadoh, Hannah Kuhlman Hey all! I figured I'd delurk for a bit and tell a tale. Went to the best show I've seen for a long time last night. A guy named Stuart Davis (of whom I've sung praises to Stacy) played a tiny coffee house in St. Cloud. Just a man and his guitar, (and me with a tape recorder). You can check out some of his stuff at http://www.stuartdavis.com there's sound files and such too. If you're really interested in the boot let me know, too. I just came back from a week in Memphis with my family working on cleaning out one of my aunt's houses. I cannot with words describe how entirely cluttered, dirty, and wasteful this entire second house is/was. It's nice to be back. Oh, anyone in the Minnesota/Iowa/Wisconsin area thinking of going to edgefest please drop me a line and maybe we can say hey at the event. I'm also feeling lucky to be attending the Sebadoh show at First Ave in Mpls in a week and a half. I hope to boot that one too. Finally, I did see an article in the A&E section of the U of MN's paper this Thursday written by former RF regular Hannah B. Kuhlman. So Hannah, if you're out there, nice work and drop me a line. Thanks for reading, all.
