Court, I hear & know the frustration of the Jump, Little Shun. Though I'm not a J,LC fan (not that I dislike 'em...I just don't know 'em), our own beloved BEN FOLDS FIVE has been shunning us West Coasters for YEARS!!! Especially those of us North of LA! I moved to Seattle 2 years ago & they've made 1 scheduled stop here in that time. (Yes, they opened for Counting Crows 1ce & played a free show inbetween LA & Portland HORDE dates, but those hardly count as bona fide tour dates, now, do they?!) Oh well, guess there are downsides to living in the best part of the US, after all>:-(! It's just too damned expensive for Sony to send our boys to the land of water, mountains, & lipstick lesbians! Hmmmmmmmmmm. Hey all! What's cookin'? Good to see posts from Carrie and Matthew and Spencer and Ginger and all the rest! Although strangely enough, I didn't get the RF with Ginger's post in it at all until Markus was kind enough to forward it to me. So I was *completely* clueless when all these posts about lesbian love scenes and other maillists with names deleted started whipping across my screen. So thanks again, Markus, for clueing me in. And by the way... the whole lesbian dance scene description was hysterical! And is that our long, lost FL that I detect? The 'cumonlady' posts are unsigned, so I can't be sure... but it certainly struck a familiar chord with me, anyway. So on the off-chance that it *is* E... What up, G? What's with the incommunicado? I've sent a few e-mails to all your addresses and since they didn't bounce I was assuming that you were getting them. I was really worried that something had gone heinously wrong for you... and by the way, I'm still hoping that that is not the case. So yeah... I sent a few e-mails but they seemed to drop off into some sort of chasm... so I truly didn't know what to think. Now, with COL sounding suspiciously like the FL, things have seemed to get even weirder. I guess the fjord is the place for weirdness, though! Anyway... even if COL is not the FL, I figure he probably breezes through the RF every once in a while... so I thought I'd say "Yo". I just came back to this message after I got pulled away for a few hours... and now I have a splitting headache so I really can't think of the other stuff I wanted to say. Oh yeah! Anoop: I will analyze your dream later, 'K? And I just wanted to thank everyone who posted after I asked them to... I felt the love, people, I really did! Later! - -Anne ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Apr 1999 15:08:03 -0500 (EST) From: Katy Demcak Subject: All right stop collaborate and listen Ice is back with a brand new invention... ever since watching VH1's Behind the Music on Vanilla Ice, Ice Ice Baby has been in my head. Good show, although they did not mention his appearance in Madonna's book _Sex_. He he, I bet *she's* hitting herself for that one now. Anyway, I am back, although no one probably noticed I was gone. Just got back from spring break in sunny California, which was actually not so sunny but rather rainy and overcast. Great to come back to a bunch of great post on RF from Anne, Courtney, Ginger and everyone else--yes, I mean you, yes, you personally. I feel like the only person in the world who doesn't have TUBORM yet, and I haven't heard "Army" on the radio, but, heh, I haven't listened to the radio in two weeks, so that will do it for you. I have to share my sad pain with you all: when did McDonald's stop serving Shamrock Shakes throughout all of March, instead of now when they stop at 12:01 a.m. on March 18 or whatever. I showed up on March 19 trying to get some of that minty dairy lovin', but they laughed in my face. The bands for our spring weekend will be announced tonight; I know unofficially Liz Phair will be here (it's on her list of tourdates, anyway), but there should be a couple other names there, too. I will not let go of my hope, misguided as it may be, that our boys will be here. That is a rumor swirlin' around campus anyway. Oh well, at least I have Tufts. today i had a coke and cadbury mini-eggs for breakfast. my mother would not be please. er...pleased. xoxo, Katy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Apr 1999 15:20:19 -0800 From: Dig that crazy chick Subject: honest to God bentent. well, i opened my mailbox about 15 minutes ago and was happy to find that my new issue of CMJ was here. but it was not until i was in the elevator that a sound roughly akin to "GAH!" came out of my mouth as i flipped over the magazine and saw OUR HEROES on the cover. in cartton form no less. and the article inside was written by none other than Tom Maxwell of Squirrel Nut Zippers. "Army" is on the CD and this was the first opportunity i've had to listen to it. I was one with my stereo for the entire 3:24. mmkay. go see The Matrix. it'll kick your arse. and Keanu is surprisingly good. Andy Bopp has 3 great bands all in once city! Just not fair!!! =-) I had *better* see him play when I am out there this summer. I'm moving out east someday. Hopefully soon.
