The raw unfettered sugar, though. What a concept... I had a gratiously weird weekend, at least for myself. At this moment, MA is a frickin' tundra, and I know that first hand, because me and the dog slogged through the neighborhood, searching for the holy grail that is a starbucks chai tea latte. Ive been sick since sunday, Ive seen four movies, and ive only eaten oranges (definetly 20 or so) and almonds. The Truman Show (I really liked it...I think its only going to be better in oncoming years) Rush Hour (fun) Good Will Hunting (Elliott Smith!) and a French film (a. w/out depardieu!! Yay! b. that i really liked!!!) When The Cats Away. it was good. And it had a good soundtrack, too. In AP History, we have seen ungodly amounts of french films with depardieu, and while I stare bored at the subtitles i cant read, i entertain the class by going, "This guy is considered sexy in France!" man, there was a school dance this weekend, with the usual rap soundtrack. but i impressed hot sophomore boy and i swung danced with my buddy matt and we kicked so much ass. and i saw rufus and imogen heap!!!! SOOOOOO good. Basically everything leigh said. Imogen heap is extremely tori-ish, but a gorg. brit goddess. rufus is adorable, his songs were in great form, and hes hilarious. And his new song, california, is great. I love how you can repeatedly run into people in boston. Rock! I have seen the prettiest boy from tufts... 10 things i hate about you looks appealing. basing a teen movie on classic lit is a good thing. (actually, every teen movie is based on classic lit, huh?) Sorry this is long, i dont think ive posted in awhile. ~Elisabeth Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Mar 1999 13:50:25 -0500 From: "Lyons, Anne" Subject: You rang? Hey all- Hope all is well with all of you. Since Meg asked where I was, I thought I would reply and say that I am still around... I still read the Files religiously... I just haven't been moved to post recently. I'm sure once the gang gets out on the road and the new album is released, I will be banging out messages left and right! As to the FL... he is completely MIA. I've sent a few concerned messages his way once I noticed that his site was down (Really, it's down. Go check.) but I have yet to hear back from him. I've been sending good vibes his way, however, just in case he needs them. Of course, he's probably off on vacation somewhere and hasn't had time to check his e-mail... FL: Hope all is well. Anoop: Feel better. Meg: Thanks for noticing that I've been gone... = ) Eric: Is the Love Quad a prelude to a Menage a Quatres? *grin* But seriously... I hope your situation resolves itself so that you are the ultimate winner! = ) Sandi: How goes life in the beautiful south? You still holdin' hands m'girl? Elisabeth: Heard from any more schools? Dan: Thanks for getting all the tunage up online. Markus: I still think Sinforosa needs to do a tour of New England... Matthew: Any new word on smiting behavior? Welp. Back to work for peons like me! Anyways, I've got this idea, (don't be too scared). I was hoping all of you guys could give me a quote, something you think sums of the RF in one brief witty sentence. I'm not sure exactly what I'm gonna do with all this, but I've had a few ideas. T-shirts, maybe stick the best ones on a sticker, whatever, but I think it'd be cool to have something to make ourselves recognizable once we all start heading out to the shows. Anyways, anything you think would make a clever addition is appreciated. I just realized I'm late for class...later gators, Anoop ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Mar 1999 15:51:18 -0500 From: Dan Cohen Subject: [Fwd: You rang?] This is a multi-part message in MIME format. - --------------9410FAB183B88764289BC694 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Bloody reply key. Sorry, this is going to be a quick post, I'm on hold with Gateway2000 right now concerning a replacement part for my computer. They're playing Steven's Last Night In Town as the music on hold. Send yerself over to this site: http://members.tripod.com/ex13 Follow the link to Ben Folds Five. I went ahead and posted all the lyrics to that certain album that rhymes with "We Stunmothterwised Pieography Bof Seinfold Tessner." I haven't been advertising this link too much, but now that the album seems to be getting out, I figured, what the heck. I didn't bother to write down all of "Your Most Valuable Possession" because it gets me angry when I listen to it too many times. I think of what BFF could have put there instead (Emaline? Dr Pyser?) and I get upset. Let me give thanks to Stacy for the lyrics to Jane, and for her help in deciphering some of the other cryptic words in Narcolepsy and Mess. Guillaume helped me with the French stuff, and Aaron picked out "Please cook my steak again" from Your Redneck Past on the first try. Props to Ginger for educating me on the wonders of Chick-Fil-A. Hopefully I'll get one of those wicked sandwiches really soon! I'm going to New Orleans this weekend, so that is going to rock royally. I love it when my company decides to send me to a cool city and put me up in a fancy hotel for a few nights. I can deal with that any time! :-) Hold down the fort while I'm out of town! - - Leigh 13 "But you will never see You will never see that part of me I want to be for her What I could never be for you" - BFF ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Mar 1999 03:04:57 -0500 From: "Leigh 13" Subject: Run DMC and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy to open shows From some article, somewhere... The quirky, piano-based pop trio Ben Folds Five are planning a U.S. tour this spring in support of their third studio album, The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner, a spokesperson for the band said. The album is scheduled for release April 27. The tour will begin April 16 and run until May 5, hitting mostly East Coast colleges, with a few club dates added to the mix, according to the spokesperson, who declined to be named. Tickets are already available for the Manhattan shows April 27 and 28 at Irving Plaza and are "selling quickly," said an employee of the venue, who also declined to give her name. "Army," the album's first single, will be released to radio April 5, said the band's spokesperson. Other songs on the recording include "Narcolepsy," "Don't Change Your Plans," "Mess,"Magic," "Hospital Song," "Your Redneck Past, "Your Most Valuable Possession," "Regrets," "Jane" and "Lullaby." In a typical display of the ensemble's sense of humor, the album is named after Reinhold Messner, who in 1980 became the first man to successfully complete a solo expedition to the summit of Mt. Everest. For several songs on The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner, Ben Folds Five -- singer/pianist Ben Folds, bassist Robert Sledge and drummer Darren Jessee -- supplement their sound with strings and a horn section. Ken Mosher and Tom Maxwell of the neo-swing band Squirrel Nut Zippers reportedly played on some tracks. Pop-rockers Fleming and John will open for Ben Folds Five on all dates of the tour; neo-swingers Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and rap veterans Run-D.M.C. also are slated to open on at least one date each. Ben Folds Five's last studio album, 1997's Whatever and EverAmen, spawned the surprise pop hit "Brick, as well as the radio favorites "Song for the Dumped" and "Battle of Who Could Care Less." In 1998, they released Naked Baby Photos, an album of outtakes and live performances, and later in the year, Ben Folds released a solo album, Volume One, under the name Fear of Pop. The latter album, which featured vocals by "Star Trek" icon William Shatner, carried Folds into more experimental territory than that explored by Ben Folds Five. "The kid-in-the-candy-store vibe of [Fear of Pop] may be carried into the studio with me now," Folds said in January.
