(Okay, you guys made me post. Really, you did.) So, yeah. I have Imogen's debut album called "I Megaphone" on Almo. She's a young pianist/singer/songwriter out of London. Her voice and style remind me more of Alanis or Fiona Apple at tmes. It's a fair piece of work and there are some strong songs...but also some weak ones. I think she's done pretty well considering that Ms. Heap (is that her real name? seems to be) is only 20 years old. She's got a good amount of talent; any pop artist who samples the Philip Glass Ensemble has to be interesting, right? IMHO, the more engaging tracks would be "Getting Scared," "Oh Me, Oh My," and "Come Here Boy." Hey, wow. There's a web site on here too: www.imogenheap.com. I just noticed that. Obviously I haven't been listening to this much since last summer. :) Beware of the album cover, her arms have been digitally altered and such. There. I posted. ~Kathryn THE STRANGEST THINGS http://fly.to/bff ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Mar 1999 02:51:23 -0800 (PST) From: "Jordan W." I like it. How cool is it to have the opening missive in the Files be titled with both your first and middle name? Leave it to The Markus to work me into a song... he rocks. As to Sinfo-dreams... I think I'll just start small. First, I'll refuse to feel guilty for generic sinful dreams, and then I'll work my way up to refusing to feel guilty about sinful dreams about specific rock stars... Although, come to think of it, I *did* have a dream that I kissed a rock star last night. But he wasn't really a rock star. Lemme 'splain. It was this guy I know who is a teacher in real life, but in my dream he was a rock star. I still knew him, though... so I went over with a friend to talk to him (btw, this was all taking place at my college reunion... except Mr. Rock Star did not go to my college -- but those are dreams for ya!). We ended up holding hands and then later, we were kissing like teenagers.* Of course, then my freaking alarm went off. Damn alarm. But I digress. And hey! Where's the Bentent? Not here. So stop looking for it. *grin* Here's some more nonBentent. Can I just take a moment to thank Anoop & Courtney & Markus for the RF shout-outs? And I'd also like to thank Jay and Tina for the private messages as well. Your support means a lot... more than you'll ever know (I hope). Speaking of support... Matthew-dear, you know that you can always call out the militia to support you for anything, right? I mean... you're El Jefe. You can assemble us just to make us march around the square for your own amusement. Anything we can do to cheer you up -- just let us know. And why would we respond? Because... in short... You are the very model of a modern Major-General. (You know the mythic history, King Arthur's and Sir Caradoc's... You answer hard acrostics and you've a pretty taste for paradox...) So there. Can I also add to my list from yesterday? Can I pretty-please include Aerosmith's "Lick & A Promise"? OK, OK... no need to shout me down. Later! - -Anne * I mean that as in a "hot & heavy" sense... not as in an "inexperienced & fumbling" sense. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Mar 1999 13:10:31 -0500 From: john_oc@juno.com Subject: Re: The Rockford Files V2 #85 I suppose I shall make a soundtrack for myself as well. A little birdy (namely, me) had notified the Tufts Daily about it, since, well, I'm editor in chief of Wellesley's newspaper and know what a huge scoop it would be for a college paper to find out the bands for a spring weekend concert. So my theory is that the Daily snooped around, Concert Board found out and then asked BFF to take it off their site temporarily. But we will see. Current Tufts students can get extra tickets, Elisabeth, but I doubt being a pre-frosh is gonna help you much, sadly.
