(a fun fun song) I bought xo (elliot smith, baybee) a couple days ago and it ROCKS. y'know i only bought it because so many of you nice people recommended it. y'all have seriously good taste. plus it only cost me $21, which aussie lasses and lads will know is a fine and cheap price. it reminds me of beatles stuff (seargent pepper album) mixed with crowded house (neil's voice echoes in elliots) mixed with bff (- baby britain is the tonkiest song - I just had to buy the album when I heard it) which is such a sexy combination it almost blows me away. the songs give me a great mood for writing. very calming after an un-calm day. I finally watched the shatner/bff conan thang, thanks to the chivalrous dan hirning who is currently the coolest person on nswuni campus (and a public congrats on the scholarship there - boy are we a smart bunch) anyways shatner weirds me out. he is just too... heck gotta go catch y'all later tavia ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Mar 1999 02:26:40 -0500 From: "Leigh 13" Subject: easy places to get along Hiya, I got to check out our friend Rufus Wainwright tonight at the Supper Club! Let me thank you guys as a whole for introducing me--for it was here on the Files that I first heard his name. I met up with Rey (good to see you again, man!) and Dan there, and brought along Jessica, an old friend of Stacy's. A woman named Imogen Heap opened up. She's a solo pianist much in the same vein as early Tori, but she's got more of the ieee screeching and less of the Crucify rock. She even looked a bit like Tori, but more like Linda Perry of 4-Non Blondes. It was unfortunate that the crowd (especially in the balcony) wouldn't shut up during her performance; it was definitely distracting. She had a strong voice though, and some sweet songs. Rufus. What a cutie! I think it's safe to say that every man and woman in the place felt some attraction to the guy...how can you not?? (You're allowed to disagree with me here, Rey.) Anyway, Rufus is just an amazing singer and musician, and I was totally impressed with his talents live. As an added bonus at the end of the show, his father Loudon joined him on the stage, along with his sister Martha for a true "family" song.
