My copy of Built To Spill's Keep It Like A Secret arrived yesterday. It is their best album to date. I listened and I was just floored, absolutely floored. Some songs have a catchier, poppier feel, but they do not loose what BTS is at all. No wonder BFF once said "If we could be a BTS cover band, we would" It is so amazing. This album makes me feel. I enjoy a lot of bands and kinds of music, you know. and they are good for different things. Some are relaxing, some good for background mussic, some good to sing along to, whatever... but BTS, this album in partiular makes me feel something... in the pit of my stomach, and it wells up in my heart as well... and It is so good. So goood. I'm not keeping it like a secret. Buy this album. This could be the album that breaks them into mainstream. God Forbid. They once said that they would rather play a crowd of 30 fans that get their music than be rich and famous because people think they were cool. Then they will pull a radiohead and freak out with the fame and retire into obscurity for a year before creating one of the best masterpeices of music for this century.... Hmmm I guess that wouldn't be all bad would it? Lets see... other albums that you must go out and buy... Jason Falkner Can You Still Feel. This album could break him into radio rotation as well. Its already doing well on cmj's charts. Jason Falkner is really incredible, and on this album he does all the instruments. He was formerly of The Grays and Jellyfish, so he has that distinctive pop sound. More similar to the Grays than Jellyfish though. I haven't heard the new XTC, but I have been told it is absolutely amazing. Similar in style to Skylarking which I have and love (tracks 5-8... wow) The Imperial Teen Whats Not To Love is also brilliant. Much better than their previous effort which was outstanding. Kent Isola. Its their first english release. Previously they were quite popular in their home country singing in swedish. The vocals are thom yorkesque, and they have a very full guitar sound without coming off as "ROCK" more... swelling guitars, along the same lines as radiohead, but with a more pop sound. Definastly worth a listen. Jimmy Eat World - Clarity. I think this might be the year of Emo. Lucky Denver Mint, the single, got play on KROQ. This is a local band, just out of Tempe, AZ, so I have to root for them. It comes very close to BTS in intesity. Different styles of emo, but Jimmy is amazing. Fleming and John - The Way We Are IO had never really listened to them until Conan... but I guess I was missing out. This album is amazing. I highly enjoy Fleming's vocals, though not everyone feels that way. Thats cool I guess. =-) The songs themselves are absolutely beautiful. And so my friends... This is Stacy's music review of the day. Check these releases out. You will not be disappointed. Stacy *your music editor du jour* We're no more than friends, and thats where it ends But funny enough, we're both wearing grins And I'll spend half the day just running around With a pocket full of change and you on my mind. --Jason Falkner "She Goes to Bed" http://www.u.arizona.edu/~stacyf icq #7641939 ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V2 #80 ********************************
