Does anyone know what came of that, and why > they're not appearing? Ben lies. Simple as that... Oh, and "the new album" at that time could have been Naked Baby Photos....they would never have released Emaline on 2 different albums whether on different labels or not... I got my grubby little hands on my very own copy of the new BF5 album and the new Gladhands album. And I think Miss Spice needs to call me about a listening party... What else.... Hmmmm.... I had a date last night and it went wonderfully...Heinekens all around...even some very discreet hand holding. :) Very very good. I believe at one point I was even introduced as a significant other. What does this mean? Yikes....only time will tell I suppose. He's older and I make him nervous... How could little me make anyone nervous? Crazy. Anyway, he's a rocker who loves the Partridge Family (gave me a David Cassidy comic book for Valentines Day) how could I ask for more? Saw Darren and Trey the other night and was notified that I am "saucey". YES! Swapped phone numbers and now Ginger and I might just have found ourselves a running partner or two. Got some leads on some rockstar houses going up for rent soon... all in all, it's been a rather eventful couple of days. Ginger and I are such rockstars. Off to eat some homemade lentil soup... If I am in boston, but not at the time, I still want to have a little BenCon minus the BenConCERT, if you get my drift though. =-) STacy We're no more than friends, and thats where it ends But funny enough, we're both wearing grins And I'll spend half the day just running around With a pocket full of change and you on my mind. --Jason Falkner "She Goes to Bed" http://www.u.arizona.edu/~stacyf icq #7641939 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Feb 1999 15:12:36 EST From: F2G2@aol.com Subject: soundtrack du militia. now. i want you all to carefully consider the fact that these fall in no particular order. much like audio dominoes....... the beatles: while my guitar gently weeps/happiness is a warm gun sinforosa: these days beck: the girl of my dreams the george baker selection: little green bag blind melon: mouthful of cavities ('listen, man, listen. can you hear the cats?") the london suede: sadie phish: bouncing around the room bf5: theme from dr. pyser/where's summer b?/twin falls t monk: round about midnight the verve: catching the butterfly which segues nicely into any supergrass (preferably off of 'in it for the money'----hollow little reign?), and into radiohead's 'bulletproof'. mmw: whatever happened to gus coltrane: i want to talk about you the dead: uncle john's band mother hips: collected some nerve morrissey: skin storm (during the gratuitous rf sex scene. any takers?) elliot smith: amity/a question mark/oh well, okay tortoise: mmmmm......you tell me. i like them all too much. maybe 'in.....there were women and men.' rusted root: rising sun jeff buckley's "eternal life---live" merely cuz it's bitching. anything by big rude jake. despite the fact that i'm not down w/the swing trend (like tori amos and our denmother of iniquity), they are cool. killer live show AND they are the only band who has ever said directly to us: "'night guys. we'll see you next time around." as i left a venue. that's my soundtrack. off the top of my head....... i'm sure you'll bring it to my attention if i missed something. matthew ps. my friend bill just finished a hard house track called "st. valentine's hot poker." silly name, very catchy dance hooks. i heard it for the first time yesterday......maybe we could squeeze it in there for his sake. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Feb 1999 21:08:51 -0500 From: Barbi Sliemers Subject: Emaline not on album. Leigh, i don't know about Theme ffrom Dr. Pyser, but Emaline could not legally be on it. I think Caroline records has the rights to it because it was originally recorded for the self titled record (of Caroline). Their new contract is with sony Epic Records. this is the same problem with Eddie Walker. Emaline and Eddie Walker will never appear on an album (because Caroline Records screwed them over in my opinion). while we're on the subject of Caroline Records screwing Ben Folds, did you know that NBP was another way they did? They made BFF put out another album since they owed them an album per so many years. But I think we all liked the consequences of that. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Feb 1999 14:19:57 +1100 (EST) From: Jodie Subject: Frivolous Fjordian Follies - the Soundtrack Great idea Anoop!! This is my take on THE ROCKFORD FILES - the soundtrack... 1. No Substitute Chef (South Park) When the only other substitute is the Magical Armchair, the Rockford Files are too, too good with No Substitute. 2. Whenever Wherever Whatever Maxwell Because the true value in the rockford files is the ability to enjoy them 'Whenever Wherever Whatever'... 3. Heavy Heart You Am I 'Been watching too much tv, I'm thinner than I should be, I'm like a waterlogged ball, that no-one wants to kick around any more' - replace tv and thinner with 'net and thicker and that just about sums everything up... 4. Walking Stick Powderfinger 'I'll take the lead you follow me, come and relieve the friends that I keep, They're sick of me, And I may have a point to prove, I might have a few memories that I might like to lose' - I just like that song and the lyrics to it... 5. Satan is my Master BFF Song title and artist really say it all.... 6. Hallelujah Jeff Buckley I say words to that effect every time I receive mail of the fjordian type 7. Alright Supergrass If not "Hallelujah" then 'Alright'....(see above) 8. Pray to the Junkiemaker Fishbone Actually - I pray to the fearless leader for this mainstay of debauchery to continue to give me my 'fix' 9. West End Riot The Living End Because there will be one if the lads only tour the East Coast this tour.. 10. Poison The Prodigy 'I've got the poison, I've got the remedy'....or at least my fix... For some bentent (besides no 5 song), with a US tour and then a UK tour, would it be too much to expect an Aussie tour in the not too distant future? Jodie I dont write my music for Sony. I write for the people who are screaming down the road, crying to a full blast stereo. There is also music I'll make that will never-ever-ever be for sale. This is my music alone, this is my true home; from which all things are born and from which all my life will spring untainted and unworried, fully of my own body. JEFF BUCKLEY ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Feb 1999 21:46:10 -0800 From: Dig that crazy chick Subject: i'm getting a cold you know, i heard Beth Orton on KROQ today and I'm a bit afraid. Grammy's... i'm not watching them because they're pointless. and because traffic was all kinds of fucked today since the Shrine Auditorium is literally across the street from campus. walking home, i got to partake of the spectacle of 9 blocks of backed up traffic where the vehicles consisted of 95% limousines. why am i listening to the Cardigans when i just got Chris Isaak's CD? okay, remedied that. rowr. i love him. Okay, so i'm trying to devise a plan to get to the Amherst show. i've already got a place to stay, now i just need to find a cheap airfare and i'm set. as far as Caroline screwing over BFF by releasing NBP, i don't think that's necessarily true. if anything, it was a favor. they still owed one more album on their contract with Caroline when they moved to Sony, so rather than cutting another full album, the negotiation to make it a rarities/live/b-sides thing was probably the easiest way to deal with it for both parties.
