Was I just crawling through an opiate haze, or did I miss the new tour dates completely? Someone please let me know what my damage is. And let me know the nearest date to me too. I might have to make a road trip. Well, one of my best friends from high school tracked me down via email yesterday, so that was kinda cool. And I've found where I'm going to be living next year, a nice little basement apartment that's "just ghetto enough to be cute," in the words of its current residents. And as much as I whine about falling in love with my exes, one of my exes is falling for me. And wouldn't it be the one I never want to go out with again? Life's funny. Spencer- I just want to you remember this: You're nobody until somebody loves you. So find yourself somebody to love, and chain them in the basement until they love you. ;) And there's my random thought for the day. Thank you and good night. Come back for the 10 o'clock show, it's completely different. Be sure to tip those waitresses, and be kind to animals. Laters! I thought i should post every two months or so, so here goes: If you remember as far back as September, I said that Royce had run into my room and yelled, "Barbi! Your band might be coming to OSU!!" He had heard through the grapevine that one of those student groups was trying to get BFF to come here. But of course he didn't know which group (now remember, OSU is the 2nd biggest college). After asking his source and other people, I failed to find out which group, until TODAY. I took the approach of going to one of the student unions (yes, we have 2 student unions) and asking around of what groups throw concerts. Finnally, bingo: the ohio something board. I filled out the application to join and the Advisor wrote her personal note on the application for the guy who runs the committee for concerts. The only problem is that the project may have been cancelled. She said she hadn't heard anything from the committee about it in a few months. So I will find out later. If you haven't heard already, I am running a website of another fjordian. Jessica is kinda busy with the scrubbery, so I'm "maintaining" the Ben Folds Five International Fans Site. GO THERE! I COMMAND YOU! You can sign up for a Ben-Pal, or, if you are from a country other than the US, you can become an official member, so that we can be your second HomePage. http://www.bffInternational.sloth.org Barbi * Ben Folds Five International Fans Site * http://www.bffInternational.sloth.org --Get a "Ben" Pal- -Now Spans 10 Countries-- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Feb 1999 12:32:21 -0500 From: Barbi Sliemers Subject: Ben Folds Five and the International Site. Well, I finally broke down and bought the Ben Lee import. It has bonus tracks, so I am all over that. I got a 10 dollar discount since I bought it through my web site. Yay for me! AND I have the Whitlams, so I am all over this Australian music thing. First off. Taxes suck. I've got to fill out this damn 1040 *plus* a SE form this year. I mean to tell you, I have never seen so much effort put into creating ridiculous paperwork in all my life. Luckily, I can write off all of my CD and video purchases. This can only result in more of a return, which can only mean.... ....more beer and bourbon. Secondly, Eric let the cat outta the bag with this comment: <> And once they're chained, get out your whips and spank their cheeks 'til they turn a color of crimson that make any University of Alabama fan proud. At least, that's what I do. Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke. ;-) Third, sorry I haven't responded to some of you guys in so long. Here's the work situation... I'm originally scoring a 54 minute show for AMC (American Movie Classics). This has made for one busy as hell Spencer. They don't want any CD library music. They want all *original* music from me. So I've got a total of two weeks to write, orchestrate, perform, and mix this whole deal. On the bright side, there *is* a 12 minute segment on Jayne Mansfield. For some reason, I keep having to roll the video footage of her over and over again. Go figure. Anyway, once the show is going to air, I'll post a date and time for the show premier. You all must watch and hassle me later. It probably won't be until middle March b/c the music will have to go through a week in the Digital Audio Workstation for audio sweetening. Short story long, if I come out smelling like a rose on this one, I should be crowned the 'king of postscoring'. In the meantime, I'm getting no sleep trying to constantly come up with new ideas. Composing is fun with a gun to your head. The upper crust at HGTV gave me kudos for my music during their Super Bowl campaign. Apparently, most networks ratings went down during the big game, but HGTV's went *up*. I would easily maintain that it had nothing to do with my compositions. E, Anne, Markus--the beach house offer at Pawley's Island is still open. Let's talk, dig? I smell a 'conBENtion-by-the-sea'..... matthew--I know I'm sextremely (yes, I know I typed 'sextremely') and inexcusably late on getting your tape to you. How's about I burn a CD for you in the studio instead? I've extracted some great sound bytes from "Fear and Loathing.." that would make for a pretty interesting mix. Once again, I apologize for not holding up my end of the trade. I have no excuse and you have every right to be pissed at me. I *will* send out your CD promptly. And to Clayton--Thanks for writin' to me man. Let's hook up and and kick it middle school, OK? I say we meet in St. Louis and bar hop the whole weekend... OH YEAH!!!----MARKUS! I seem to remember getting Craig Kilborn to sign that book for you. Can I get a Sinforosa CD in return, or do I still need to send cash?
