I seriously think that Samuel L Jackson is going to be the biggest space pimp this side of Lando Calrissian. The one thing I'm dying to see in the new movie is a younger version of Yoda running around with a lightsaber, screaming "The Dark Side you serve. Your ass I must kick!" But that's just me. ;) Courtney- So, did you do your civic duty and beat Jesse to death with the nearest blunt object? I can only hope. Elizabeth- Your principal's a punk. If you want, I can give you some theological theories that could fuck over his entire semester plan and control of the class if you'd like. At least that's what they did to my teachers. All you have to do is wear that school girl uniform..... No wait, Bad id! BAD! ;) I'm just waiting for the new Bloodhound Gang. "'Cause you're pretty when I'm drunk..." Donnell" Subject: Spillin' the guts Whoo hoo. Today was almost fun in a strange way. I had my interview with Harvard, which went fine, but I had to get dressed up all Ally McBeal for it, but the skirt was at a classy length, the "suit" wasnt armani or anything, and the heels sucked the life out of me. Boys-try walking on ice covered brick sidewalks with maybe three inch chunky heels. Its a sport of endurance. So I try to go home, and I head on the T, and I find myself on the wrong train, not heading to the suburbs, but heading to the worser part of town. That was fun. Especially in a short skirt with my suburban bred street smarts. (Actually, Marky Mark is from the "wrong side of the tracks" in Boston. FYI. Plus, the boy who I had my first date with-his bro once beat up MM.) So I end up eating lunch in the city looking like a pale pretender of a business woman. It was weird-I felt so separate from my high school self. And I also end up running into the most annoying alum from my school, and I had to run away. Where are the cute boys on a rainy Tuesday when youre dressed like a young Republican? Anyways, my feet hurt. I have two more college interviews this week (a battery of them, to say the least) and one is on Friday, before I go see Rushmore for the second time. and then attempt to get into a club show. URGHHHHH!!!! Wes Anderson was in Boston on Friday. What big ass Bottle Rocket fan missed that??!! "Mary Janes Not A Virgin Anymore" was also shown for free that Friday. UGHH. I went to bed at 6pm last Friday. See? Im cultivating the interview skills, talking about myself, this utterly, so far wicked majorly dreary, week. ~Elisabeth CDS in my player- Garbage-Version 2.0, Radiohead-The Bends, Fatboy Slim-Youve Come A Long Way, Baby! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Feb 1999 18:20:55 -0500 From: Ben Bradshaw Subject: New Releases Since someone (Leigh 13, I believe) posted about new releases, I've had a few questions that need to be answered that you guys may know. 1) Is there a new Weezer album coming out soon? I've heard absolutely nothing except for maybe half a sentence on some mailing list about this, and I've secretly been letting hope gain momentum, which coincidentally can be represented as p=mv. Two) What in the hell has happened to The Refreshments? I've heard from an unreliable source that they have broken up, and that somehow a band called The Peacemakers is involved. C) Does anyone know what the dilly is with Buck-O-Nine? I spent an hour driving around trying to find this album, asking every employee at every record store looking for this cd that was supposed to be out today. I think i also said something about Lindsey Buckingham looking a bit like their more responsible older brother. and Eric, it was not Christina Applegate i saw -- though if it had been, she would have gotten a good head kickin' from me. it was the guy with the long hair that looks like a hold over from the Seattle grunge scene circa 1993. Right now i'm talking on the phone to my grandma... she sends me really fucking great chocolate chips cookies on a regular basis. she rules. she's all excited i'm going to Paris. she's so cute. So I'm enjoying a bit of a BFF renaissance. I've pulled out my bootleg from the Irving Plaza show in '97 and it's rocking me nutty. i'm serious about building a shrine and chanting for a tour. I just can't take it any more. i think my roomate might run in fear if i did that, but it's not like she has room to judge because i've seen her hopped up on Dimetapp. THAT's the funny shit, yo. On a much more exciting and instantly gratifying note, Sinforosa has hit my mailbox!!!! Well, relaly it hit my mailbox on the 19th of January. But the rocket scientists that work at the customer service desk in my apartment building sort forgot to tell me about it. it is SUCH an incredibly nice day today! I can't get over it. usually i'm so damn blase about weather in Los Angeles, but WOW. it's February and it's about 72 out, breezy and CLEAR! You can actually see the mountains, which is neat. low smog index today. the Pear Dream sketch was on KITH today adn Dave Foley is on Yo Daily tonight. life is fabulous. oh yeah, and i've got my show tonight. 12-4am PST http://kscr.usc.edu ~Courtney The Sultraness of Swing "I am the Eradicator!!!" ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Feb 1999 16:27:54 -0800 From: Blue Green Olga Subject: New Weezer okay, sorry aboot two posts in a row, but yeah. it happens. here's the 411 on Weezer (i sound so ghetto). In case you didn't know, bassist Matt Sharp has departed to focus full time on the Rentals (new album out in March or April or something) and they've acquired Mikey Welsh from the Juliana Hatfield band. They have 8 songs written and are wokign to get about 4 more, this time with more band input as opposed to solo Rivers stuff. the songs Rivers performed solo back on Boston have been mostly scrapped. now they're looking for a producer and the RUMOUR is that it will be out maybe in the summer. of course that was the rumour at this time LAST year. so really, who the hell knows? Drummer Pat Wilson maintains a page at http://weezer.net/pat he updates it with fun pics. oh, and they will be doing the track "Velouria" for the upcoming Pixies tribute, which i believe will be released on March 9th. Also, they have been playing "seret" shows around So Cal (one of which i MISSED last night) under the name Goat Punishment: A Tribute to Oasis. Pat's side project Special Goodness just released their album in Japan and it's only available on import. Brian Bell's band the Space Twins are playing the Poptopia Festival in L.A. this week and have released three 7" records on Duck Butter records. (if you want the address, email me). wow, i bet that was a hell of a lot more than you were expecting to get, eh? ~Courtney The Sultraness of Swing "Purple monkey dishwasher!" ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Feb 1999 17:38:02 -0700 From: Stacy Lynn Subject: Truth, beauty, and a picture of you So, folks, it has arrived in the mail. I am now one of the few and priveledged Americans to own The Whitlams cd! I had already heard the album before (thanks to the wonderful Jordan!!!) but wow, to own the real thing on CD. I didn't even care that it cost like 25 bucks since its an import. Trust me it is worth it. Ok, new releases. Leigh- you rock, those are all very exciting ones. You failed to mention Fleming and Jobn which surpirsed me though. =-) But you had mentioned it eariler though. John - you rock. As does his show, I said so. =-) Yes, all those are good. Ben- The Refreshments are a local (well, sort of) band. They are from Tempe Arizona and I live in Tucson. I'll check on that. I've heard rumors that Weezer is now defunct, but I have not had those confirmed. Ok, time for Stacy's reccomendations: Best album that everyone talks about and you don't have yet: Jeff Buckley "Grace" Best album that you won't be able to find in the USA very easily: Its a 3 way tie! Wait 10 years, and they WILL be televised. Um. I have goldfish. I love them. =-) They live in a HUGE tank! And they are very happy little guys. I named them Jerry and Elaine. =-) George and Kramer are coming soon. Would anyone like to know what my play list was from my show last night?
