I talked with a bunch of you before thursday but so far ive been a little busy and a bit pissed off to sit down on the net and bang out my story. So here goes. on 1-21-99 exactly 30 days after i recieved my drivers license i managed to total my volvo into a tree. it was on a turn and i gassed it more than i needed too, but that shouldnt have caused my wreck. For a reason unknown to me i managed to lose control of the car and the last movements of the car that i remember were too far into the turn (ie. way too left on a left turn from a stop sign) and then a correction that ended up sending me into the tree. The only thing i have been able to figure is too do that much damage is that when i went into a panic and corrected i floored the car into the tree. Nobody i know or have heard of witnessed the wreck so my fuzzy memory of the event is all that can be used to explain it. i was ticketed for "failure to control speed" and went to school that day, for the accident was on my way to school and was only across the street from school, i was very close when this happened. I walked away fine with only a banged up knee and a sore neck, it really hasnt bothered me that much. It was right in front of the school so it was seen by just about everyone and i havent heard the end of it yet. If you dont drive a car please dont make fun of somebody that wrecked...ive gotten a lot of crap from freshman that have never driven in their lives. Stangely enough my friend that owns a motorcycle wrecked the same morning, much in the same way, he went too fast and hit a slick spot. he banged his knee up pretty bad and cracked his guitar slightly. That evening while i was in play practice at the school a parent and students told me that a new red truck managed to wreck into the same tree. The car was insured and i have yet to get everything from it, my ash cd is still in the cd player and my play script along with tools, jumper cables and other stuff in the trunk and i think its safe to say i ruined the CD player. The 4 inch door speakers should be ok....but i dont know. I could be driving again as soon as the end of next month if my dad was really nice but im not holding my breath. So i can work this summer i should have a car then. That volvo probably saved me a lot of other injury crap and even though they arent cool i respect the hell out of them. I want another one, and untill i can afford some brand new saftey wonder i would be just fine driving volvos. On the bright side, i learned my lesson now, rather than later. If you havent been involved in a wreck in your lifetime of driving i think its safe to say sometime you will. it teaches you that driving safe is a lot better than driving any other way. I was lucky to be able to walk away and go to school that day. The interior of the car was barely touched. If i was in a plastic sports car things would have been way different. Remember that for me. Sorry to be so morbid but its gonna be another rough week with our show going up on thursday. At the same time it will be fun and cast party on friday. We are gonna rock the house with our musical. Thanks for listening. Clayton ctsmith@onr.com ------------------------------ Date: 23 Jan 99 22:52:32 EST From: Rey Anthony Subject: Re: More than Pop. Biggest thanks possible to Leigh, Aaron, and Aaron's mom for getting me a ticket to a truly once in a lifetime performance!!! Most of you have seen Friday's Conan, so there's not much use in talking about it. Got another pic with Ben, hopefully this one won't be so terrible that I'll be forced to ban it from my own page, like the last one. Take care all!
