Do I have the right to be pissed at my sister and her husband for moving from Boston to Portland? I feel ennui! and agnst! I hate fighting. I think I also resent actresses like Claire Danes and others slightly because did you ever notice they can always get into good schools? The snotty chick in the faculty is going to yale next year, too. Ignore that. Its just a point and theres nothing you can do about it. I love fountains of wayne. THey played a show for the newspaper I intern at. Where is "I want an alien for christmas" from? ~Elisabeth "she's making her play...she's taking a sick day. Feel no shame for what you are Feel it as a waterfall Fall in light... Hey all! That was just a little New Year's Prayer for y'all... *smile* Well, E... you were off by a day (on my impending post). But I'm *glad* you were off by a day, because when I got home last night it was to a nice surprise... Thank you so much for the Christmas card! The three of you are looking good, buddy... Please give my best to Jen and a great big kiss on the forehead to Kate. Congrats to her on her recent baptism, too! Also... I know that there are a bunch of you to whom I owe e-mail... I PROMISE to send you a missive in the new year. I swear it. My Christmas holiday was nice... Santa was good to me (as always). My sister-in-law was able to go home for Christmas day -- for which we were all extremely grateful. And she tolerated her first round of chemo very well -- so we are thankful for that as well. Now... we've done our lists of the best in music in '98 -- how about the best in some other genres? I nominate films to begin... And I'll even start the ball rolling, too! Here are some of my picks (with classifications)... ~Oscar Caliber (and I loved 'em!): Saving Private Ryan The Opposite of Sex American History X Elizabeth Shakespeare in Love ~Perhaps Oscar Caliber (and I've yet to see 'em!): *grin* The Thin Red Line Waking Ned Devine Life is Beautiful Happiness Pleasantville Gods & Monsters ~Overrated but still enjoyable: The Truman Show The Big Lebowski ~Not Oscar Caliber -- but thoroughly enjoyable: Next Stop Wonderland Suicide Kings Out of Sight There's Something About Mary Rounders ~Guilty Pleasures: Armageddon The X-Files: Fight the Future ~Bottom of the Barrel: Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas (Sorry Matthew!) Les Miserables Deep Impact That's it for me today... gotta go do some actual work!!! Oh yeah... HAPPY NEW YEAR (a bit early -- I won't be in work the rest of the week...) It's on an import single from England called 'I Want An Alien For Christmas." It's also got another song called "The Man In the Santa Suit." In case you can't tell, I'm a big fan of FOW as well. Can't wait for the new album next year! I've been watching MTV all afternoon and I saw the funniest show. Its Real lifes or something like that Unfiltered. There was this guy who said that he wanted to protect himself at school but he can't bring a knife or gun to school. He decided he should take up the art of card throwing. At first I thought "ooo playing cards can be really dangerous... hehe" Then a second later he's showing the camaras scars on his stomach where cards have cut him. It was soo gross, but gee... playing cards... ouch. I guess they have to ban cards from the schoolyard now. Ok, another part of the show was about these other guys who invented free- style walking.... uuhhh... I didn't know that there was a specific name for this, but anyways, twas very funny. Its where you jump off the sides of walls and poles and slide down stair banisters... fun fun fun. Well, they got a shoe company to make freestyle walking shoes. Now you can pick them up at special department stores... i guess. They're these shoes with a piece of plastic in the arch. I actually saw them on my neighboor the other day. I thought it was funny... no offense to anyone who is a professional free- style walker. In other news, I ordered the BFF poster and songbook and I was told its gonna take 3 weeks for delivery... 3 weeks... That means its coming during my exam week. That seems to be sooooooo far away!! ok, just to be relevant to other things being discussed here, i saw Shakespeare in Love and thought it was really good. At the moment I cant think of any other good movies I've seen lately. Later peoples! - ---> jez ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Dec 1998 18:18:52 EST From: Gn2Nehalem@aol.com Subject: Re: Free style walking Yeah, last year in Biology there were these really funny guys, short skater guys, really stupid mostly, and they were talking about "free-style walking." I thought they just made it up (like they made up free-style stool-ing, sitting on a stool and trying to jump it and spin on it). Anyway, one day, about in January I think, one of them comes to school with a pair of those free-style walking shoes with the plastic in the arch. That, by far, is one of the most bizarre things I have seen in a long time. But he was the envy of his peers..... I like it Ok, but it seems that they are more of a live band than a studio band. Hopefully, they will come to San Antonio or so and I will be able to see them. Hopefully I will get Master of Styles pretty soon. Hannah ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Dec 1998 22:48:48 EST From: SHAP99@aol.com Subject: my dream... Last night, I had the weirdest dream about going to a BFF concert. this is weird cause I've never been to one. Well anyways, the concert was in a place that reseambles my school's auditorium. My best friend was with me and for some reason she wouldn't sit with me in the front row. She would sit in the row behind me. then I got up and moved into that row, and she told me to sit a seat over from her and she points to a guy in back of us. this is the weird part.... the guy in back of us was the guy in Aerosmith with the frizzed hair, not steven tyler, the other one, sat in back of us and started to lean over the empty seat between my friend and I. then he started drooling like a dog and was trying to pet me or something... oy vey, this was a scary dream. I woke up to the sounds of the pool guy who was cleaning our pool rather NOISELY. Thats ok, I'm happy this dream didn't go any farther. oh yeah.. I just found out my ex boyfriend who dumped me the other day wears those free style walking shoes with the plastic in the arches... I am very happy i'm out of that relationship!! haha later peoples! - --> jez ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Dec 1998 01:54:01 EST From: Sandibrady@aol.com Subject: Reunion GA-Fucking-LORE Heeeeelllllooooo there y'all!
