Greg Dulli is the kind you want to throw against a wall and f*ck. do you see the distinction here? anyhoo, the show was AMAZINGLY great. it was so so good. they played everything i wanted to hear except for Crime Scene Part One. but that isn't really a love song, per se. they covered Papa Was A Rolling Stone, Superstition and Beast Of Burden . the latter being dedicated to Ted Demme, who was hanging out to the right of the stage (he directed Beautiful Girls, of which Dulli produced the sdtrk. and played on it). also that really gay guy from Ellen was up in the VIP balcony. the El Rey theatre has changed it's capacity allowances since i saw BFF there more than a year ago.. it was so nice and not squshed, even though the show was sold out. after the show, i flashed my meet and greet pass and sauntered up to the VIP lounge. i ended up running into a friend of a friend who was there reviewing the show for the Daily Trojan. so since he was the only person i knew there, we hung out and chatted. and i mentioned the last show i saw at the El Rey was BFF and he asked me if i had seen Robbie Fulks open. so that was cool. and he also knew the College rep from Sony that got me my tickets. so he pointed him out to me and i went over and introduced myself. apparently he goes to SC too, which was cool. he was a nice guy.. i mean hell, he bought me a beer AND introduced me to Greg Dulli, so i owe this guy my first born, or something. so Greg was cool.. i was introduced to him and he was like "Hi, i'm greg." okay, DUH. but it was neat that he said that. so after the show, i was supposed to go see Psycho with my friends, but they ended up not being able to pick me up. so it's a good thing i ran into Todd (teh friend of a friend), because he drove me back to school. adn we decided that we had so much fun, we may just come back to see them play again tomorrow night. i mean hey, we've still got our vip passes, so word. i can be fashionably late to my own party. okay, so that was that. i'm giddy. it was good. i like knowing label people who know rock stars and in turn, introduce me to them. now i just have to get Topher to show at the party and my weekend is complete. ~Courtney The Sultraness of Swing "There's no baseball bat scene in Medea." ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Dec 1998 02:25:15 -0800 (PST) From: "Jordan W." I woke up feeling like I'd been run over by some sort of large vehicle... possibly a Hummer, and like I'd gotten no sleep at all, when, I really had gotten a good 8 hours or so. I had a swim meet though, so, I was determined to go to school (have to be in school to participate in sporting events). My parents were both telling me that I had the beginning symptoms of the flu, and I really shouldn't go, I only realized that myself when I started for the door and realized that I could just barely stand on my own. So, I stayed home, so, I had an exciting day of sleep, daytime TV, and, of course, the glory that is the internet. The worst part is how the meet went. It was only exhibition, but, winning a meet is a good thing no matter what. My team lost by 3 points. First place in the 100 yd Fly (my event) is worth 4 points, the winner of the event, for the other team, swam it in 1:22, which is so incredibly slow I couldn't believve it. My team needed me, and I feel like I really let them down. I care more about the welfare of the team than my personal welfare, it's just how I am. Being absent gave me an excuse to talk to this lovely girl in my chem class to see what I missed. The problem there was that chemistry is boring, and there was just no easy way to make it into any sort of interesting conversation, so, basically, I just found out what was on the test that I missed and then shrank back into obscurity. Ah well... such is life, or at least mine. Moxy Früvous did an in-store appearance at a Mediaplay near me, once upon a time, but, I'd heard very little about them at that time, so, I didn't think to go, I still haven't heard them, but, I should've gone. At least the Sabres won. - --John "Power corrupts, and Absolut vodka messes me up absolutely." ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Dec 1998 09:15:04 -0700 (MST) From: Stacy L Flatt Subject: Re: Ben Lee. Hey all. You might (or might not) remember that BFF International fan page i started about a year ago. Well i have neglected it to the point of no return. i am still getting applications from people to be added to the page. i'm still on the webring. I still care. But since i run the shrubbery, i have no time to update this page anymore. I want it to keep going, it hink it's a good idea, but it shouldn't be englected. I am looking for someone to "adopt" the page for me. I will set it up on some other server (right now it's at geocities, as part of my home page. can't give you access to that) for you and leave all the files there. All you need is some basic knowledge of HTML and a will to actually do something with it. you can see the page at http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Backstage/6814/fans.html I hope you like it if you visit it, and someone will want to adopt this poor little page.
