I have to apologize for not posting in a while, but it's been hectic lately. First off, I'm sick as a dog here. Sinus infection, I think, but it's not stopping me from running my, um, unique schedule. (Yes, it's 4:16 am.) Hasn't been really that much to respond to (pardon the alternative rant) so I think I'll pontificate for a while. I almost got fired today. Today was Microsoft eXtreme, a big convention of sorts, and Jasen and Andy from work went, leaving me alone to man the shop. I dropped the ball. I let three sales walk out the door without taking down names or numbers. I did so many things wrong and cost work so much potential income that I deserved to be fired, but I wasn't, at least not yet. I did get bitched out and sent home early, though, walking down Beechwood Avenue humiliated and crying because someone had really screamed at me and gotten angry with me to the point of where I actually thought they were going to hit me for the first time in years. And I didn't get my copy of Office 2000. I came home, bitched on IRC in what must have been the most incomprehensible rant of my life, collapsed, and went to bed. I was sick everywhere, it seemed. I didn't want to be here. I hated myself for all of my incompetence, for all of my faults. I woke up and I felt better. I had something to eat and settled down to watch football. Kansas State (which I apparently did get on ABC) was a great game, followed by an even better Syracuse/Virginia Tech game, although the ending made me shiver a little. I still have to write an email to Andy. I need to choose my words correctly, because it's that job, which means everything to me, which is at stake. I need to keep it. I should be fired and I'm still about 50/50 as to whether I will be or not. In other news...I bought the new REM yesterday. "At My Most Beautiful" is simply the most gorgeous song I've heard in a long time, comparable to or exceeding those of TBWTAS. I still have to get my Ethernet card to work with Solaris. I want sleep very badly and I want to be in school on Monday, but it might not happen. ~dan ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Nov 1998 01:34:31 -0800 (PST) From: "Jordan W." Subject: i have news!! dodododo, and yeah. fantastic! that's all i can say! what is so good, i hear you scream, in anticip...........ation. i went to a jazz night on friday night, and it was fan-smegging-tastic. ahhhhh. jazz is so cool. a pianist, a saxaphonist and a audience of 20 people who were into the music. amazing. i bought the cd on the spot. in other news, finally watched the fifth element last night. that movie has the best costumes. sigh. stayed up all night and talked about an amazing amount of stuff, going from hardcore philosophical debate about religion to suicide to tv shows that we used to love when we were kids. also got told that i have 5 girls with a crush on me. now, that is news to me. oh yeah, before i forget, what was your favorite tv show when you were a lil' childler? because we went through a list and found that voltron and transformers were very cool. so was cities of lost gold, mighty mouse, samauri pizza cats, kimba the white lion and he-man. i loved tv. and beetlebug was the coolest transformer. i respected optimus prime, but beetlebug was cooler. i wish i hadn't lost the plot of that show after the movie. i gotta get the movie out again and watch it. laugh. i had a great weekend, although i had a hallucintory time this morn, caused by severe sleep deprivation. my bed has a smell. it is a good smell, really really nice in fact, and quite identifiable feminine, but i can't for the life of me work out where it could have gotten it from. what has been going on while i was away...? it's noone i know either. i can place most people's smell. oh well, i'm enjoying it. this next paragraph has been fop-i-fied for your viewing pleasure. in the sunday telegraph, fop is reviewed. this was a glowing type review, too. check it out : The solo effort from Ben Folds, under the guise Fear of Popm has won him many admirers. Fear of Pop, Volume One, is an album of contrasts and humour, every song an adventure in stupidity or down-the-line funk and groove. Ben's girlfriend Frally has a cameo appearance as the screaming women on Root to This. William Shatner postulates on life, love and commitment. Buy this album now. 9/10 not bad, eh? and this also means that FOP is coming out in australia this week!!!! yay! gotta go, want replies. That subject line, "Aquaman, go talk to some fish" rocks. I love it when anyone quotes 'the State", the best ever television show, save Law and Order. Oh well, this is my first post in months, and I should go back to lurking. Btw, I have every State episode on tape! Woohoo!
