Subject: i love this list (: you see! people with conversations! i love it. conversation kicks arse. yes, yes it does. with regard to FOP. now i personally believe that we need a term for this, as it is the closest that we are gonna get to bentent for ages, apart from updates from chapel hill from ginger :) i'm leaning towars FOPpish, but that is up for group discussion.i'm sure some talented person will come up with something witty. but, in foppish news, i swear, i want this album. i've only heard "in love" but all vibes are good at the moment. i'm all for solo albums when it prevents stereotyping and i fully agree with anoop that this will allow ben, who i feel we all agree is a completly amazingly talented man, to explore and enjoy other musical styles, as wide and varied as he likes. it's all good as far as i'm concerned, and i am waiting for this album with baited breath. oh yeah. any aussies have any idea when the aussie release date is? assuming of course that there is an australian release. anne. :) isn't it a nice name. and she's such a wonderful person. i have a dream that is ripe for freudian annealyzation but that can wait for tommorow. the archives are a place i do recommend to all you people. fully endorse in fact. love it. there's been some amazing stories, and a hell of a lot of fun. now, go and do what your fl tells you. it's all for your health, you know. nothing for the journal today. i think that the life and times of Jordan Wightman, esq, as related to the Rockford Files are just about finished for a while. everything has settled down and i'm just quietly enjoying life for a while. Matthew, thanks. i'm back on the tracks now, and largely by taking your advice it seems to me that it's all good. so, thanks. :) you guys all kick arse, and i thank you for dealing with my shite the last few weeks. much thanks to Erik for not regulating on my ass, i think that i can contribute solidily to the perfect harmony that is the files. spence! post, damnit! same for katie, because she rocks. i fully expect to see the lineup of usual suspects tommorow. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? "and you kids aren't exactly john and joan cusack." love it. hitchcock was the man. i am a little bit trepiditious about this mr. van sant re-make also. i agree w/anoop. i too am quite fond of wanking. matthew "i don't know what sort of hat it is. it merely keeps the dome warm." ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Nov 1998 11:47:07 -0800 From: flames on the side of my face Subject: purple monkey dishwasher so here we are in day two of my "i'm tired of school" protest. it's 11:30 and i'm still in my PJ's. yay for me. or something. The Cardigans show was really fun. they only played about 10 songs, but this was just a mini-tour. they'll be back in February to do a full show. they played a bunch of stuff from the new album (which i really like) and even a disco-fied version of Lovefool. i never realized how important the bass line was to that song. oh and speaking of bass.... the bass player was HOT. love those Swedes. Also in attendance was Keanu Reeves, who sat at the bar looking scruffy and disaffected. and Alex and Jason from Phantom Planet were there too. i had to laugh at them when the valet brought us our car before theirs. Tonight is the Meet Joe Black premiere. apparently Brad Pitt is really nice. we shall see. i hope some good people show up. umm.... oh yeah. tuesday. my show. http://kscr.usc.edu. 12-4am. listen, dammit. ~Courtney The Sultraness of Swing "What's the point? Everywhere you go has valet." P.S. Topher Grace goes to my school!?!?? this is so news to me. i even looked him up on USCinfo, the handy dandy data base of students and faculty. no sign of him. of course, jenna Von Oy wasn't in the computer either. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Nov 1998 01:53:24 GMT From: "tavia -" Subject: funny things, sad things, whinging >damn, we've got a freaking sumo as our opposition >leader :) no, love your work, kimbo. can you imagine beazley wrestling howard? The guy would be squashed! all that would be left is the eyebrows. >Fear of Pop hits stores a week from tomorrow. only *if* you live in america, sighhh > is this album going to be the musical >equivalent of wanking? oh I hope so (that's the funniest thing Ive read in ages) >She tells me then that Thursday meant nothing to her...she'd had some to drink and she didn't care. It was over before it began. and that's one of the saddest. :( frankly I'm wondering if I should stop reading MA (bite me if you dont like it) and RF once fop comes out until it's available in oz, coz I fear that all the 'pop'iness will be ruined for me if I read about every single aspect of it being analysed and disected and pulled apart and commented on by people, before I've had a chance to form my own opinion. yeah whinge whinge I know on the upside I dont have any money to buy fop anyways. taves ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Nov 1998 21:55:12 EST From: Vwbugn5890@aol.com Subject: (no subject) FL-- nice of you to recognize us students, school is harsh this year....atleast i get a seven day weekend this week, unfortuantely, i haven't been able to sleep in past 8 i went to U of I for a college visit. i am not going there and my parents can't make me. the only reason we went is because my sister is already a student there. i'm aiming for washington university. god i love that place. if i don't get in, i will cry profusely. on the way up i tired to get my parents to listen to some actual good music. the result: my mother said elliot smith gave her a headache. now is that even possible? i think not. my opinion on the FoP thing...i'll just paraphrase what i said on the message board. i think that FoP won't do anything to negatively effect bff. i think the only people who are gonna go out and buy it immediately will be the really big bff fans. and while there are a lot of us, there aren't really that many if you think of it in terms of record sales. maybe some people just browsing will see it and go "hey, this looks interesting" but i don't know if FoP will really sell all that well. i don't know, that's just my take on the whole thing. oh well...i'm off to buy cliffs notes for yet another book i didn't read for english class. shan "The radio was playing crimson and clover" ~ Elliot Smith ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V1 #302 *********************************
