Ohio halloween ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 20 Oct 1998 05:11:40 -0400 From: Kristin Klevering Subject: Vacation I'm back from a week's vacation in sunny San Francisco, and FINALLY got done sifting through my emails. It was my first visit out there (I'm a hick from MI), and it was a lot of fun. My boyfriend and I actually got along really well, and despite us being sick with colds the whole week together, it was quite the bonding experience for us. I'm curious - has anyone here played "Slug Bug" with their friends? When you see a Volkswagen Beetle, you hit the person next to you and state "Slug Bug (color of the beetle)". We took the game to extrordinary levels in order to entertain ourselves during the trip. We made up "Squeeze Mustang", "Touch Taurus" and even the most favorite "Kiss Convertible". I made the rule we could only kiss (this is in public, for God's sake) if he saw a convertible witht he top down. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Expecially since we were staying in San Jose with a friend of my boyfriend's, and were driving all over the place when we were in CA. We both loved our rental Neon! The night before we flew home, we found a Border's Books and Music in a strip mall and spent way too much time there. I had them open up a copy of Elliott Smith's "XO" so I could hear "Waltz #2. I knew the CD was going to be on my doorstep when I got home, and sure enough, it was! I've been a happy girl ever since! Just to vent for a moment - I'm once again a "political pawn" in my workplace, and everyone is acting out around me. I just need to endure the next 4 days and then I'll be thrust into a new job where I have no idea as to what I'll be doing, but it's got to be better than what I'm dealing with now. I feel even worse for the person who was hired to replace me in my current position, since he's not even being acknowledged by my department. Tomorrow is my "Goodbye" lunch. They better order out for my favorite pizza, or I'll be mad. I baked my cheesecake brownies tonight for my own goodbye party! I'm very sad in leaving my current position, but I need to make this move in order to continue employment at the hospital I work at. I didn't want to get to the point where money dictated what I did for a living, but it's happening to me now. It's a sad, sick world, as our fearless leader has recently told us about. I don't feel that I'll get shattered glass thrown at me anytime soon, but I do imagine more childlike dealings with me from the "higher ups". I'm imagining finding some gum stuck in my hair, or a whoopie cusion thrust under my seat at tomorrow's staff meeting. This is how juvinille these managers are. My computer was stolen out of my office when I was on vacation by one of them, and retrieved by a co-worker who knew me and put it back where it was originally. Silly mid-managers! I feel like I'm living in a Dilbert cartoon! Sorry for the long post, I just needed to vent. I was one of the first in the city (would have been the first but the Border's employee's wouldn't take bribes) and possibly the country to read it. If you've never read the series, DON'T!!! It will take over your world until you finish all eight books, and leave you whimpering for the next five to be written. And that's only if he decides to stop at 13 books! ;) Anyway, just informing those who already suffer the same affliction that I do that it's out there. Laters all! Oh yeah, I've decided to change what I'm going to be for this Halloween. I'm reprising my role as the Ghetto's Favorite Marital Artist, Drunken Soul Master! With my mighty catch-phrase "I'll fight ya, but let me get my drink on first," I stagger blindly into danger with more style than Huggy Bear. Can you dig it? ;) Hail Eris! Ahhh, gotta get me Shaun Cassidy. Yum! I am on a Shaun kick lately. I wore my Shaun shirt yesterday and am listening to my Shaun's greatest hits Cd right now... had a Shaun dream last night and everything. Gotta get me some of THAT. And he made such a hot Hardy boy. :) Okay, enough. So I have been having berry strange dreams lately. Crazy, crazy shit. Our (or should I say YOUR) beloved Ben graced one of them. His starring role consisted of scrounging through my things and my entire camper (I had a camper!) for SOMETHING....I never found out what. I just got real pissed off at him for looking through all my shit. That's about the extent of that dream. Instead of sex dreams these days, I'm dreaming of jerkboys going through all my shit and invading my privacy. Yikes. So the point of this post? Well, good ol' Ginger and I are going to go see the Doleful Lions tomorrow night (Wednesday) in Durham. For all y'all (I'm trying to sound like a native) who don't know, that's Joe Caparo's band. I thought it might be neat to see, but when I found out that the band is actually good, I started getting excited about the show. Supposedly good power pop...which is right up my alley. Yee-haw. Do you believe in magic? In a young girl's heart...how the music can free her whenever it starts...and it's magic if the music is groovy, makes you feel like a hometown movie. Woo-hoo. Shaun rocks. See ya later alligators. Sandi ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Oct 1998 23:17:43 -0500 From: Jessica Brandt Subject: Ohio halloween Oh, last year Halloween was GREAT. I had to get my new retainer that day and couldn't talk or eat and my face hurt like hell and i was so uncomfortable cuz i was dressed up and the crowd was a bunch of annoying people.. but then BFF came on and I seriously felt like i was on Cloud 9 for the whole time. I was glad to know that they could still make me feel that way and every time i get sick of the fact that i've invested so much in BFF, i think of that moment and I am once again willing to shell out mega-bucks for singles :) anyway, after that i skipped all the fraternity hoopla and made my way to a REAL party at Andyman's house and it was much better than any stupid college party. I go to KSU, which has it's halloween either a week before or a week after OU's because they ENCOURAGE everyone to party BOTH weeks. sick sick sick. Halloween is a sick holiday to begin with. college is sick, as well. oh and this year i'm going to Andyman's and the theme is freak show and i am going as the tattooed lady. gotta buy some fakies!
