It got a great response from the listening audience and it was a blast to put together. I also do a new music show called "eclectic revolution" every week (modays at 9) where I play, well, new music, rare stuff, live stuff, and the Kamala's Cover Song of the Week. The first week this year i played Video Killed the Radio Star done by the boys live at Club Quatro, that was back in august. So last nite, I'm doing the BFF thing, and it felt really good that someone called up and was like " i want to request a song that i heard on eclectic a while ago, it was their cover of video killed the radio star". WOW people actually do listen to my little show on mondays!!! woo hoo anyway just thought i'd share in the radio realm of things casey girl ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Oct 1998 07:26:29 -0700 From: "Kamp, Marcus S" Subject: Nope, No Sex Here, Either It's OK, Carrie...I ain't gettin' none neither! Well, sure, I had a bundle of sex a couple weeks back (wait...when was my ex-girlfriend here? What a coincidence!!!), but that was pretty much an anomaly. In general, I'm much closer to celibacy than I'd like to be...dead on, in fact! Well, I haven't been getting any either...in fact, it's ben a pretty long time. Can't remember the last time...oh wait, yes I can...it was so miniscule that it had completely slipped my mind. In an infamous friend's words, "Rub a dub dub, **insert jerkboy's name here***'s got a nub". HA! Okay, so that was way too much information give there... Once, again, loaded with BENtent... San PS. So is everyone anxiously awaiting Fear of Poop, or what? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 07 Oct 1998 17:40:02 -0400 From: barbi Subject: bff here at home? guys, I just heard that an organization at my school is trying to get Ben Folds Five to play here!!!!!!! We tried to get BFF at the U of Arizona last year 2 times. Once around Thanksgiving when they played a free show in Phoenix, and once at the beginning of the year, but we couldn't get them. =-( I hpe you have better luck then I did!!! ARe you on the commitee? Cuz if not, get on it! At my school, the commitee is called Rising Star, and we bring all kinds of concerts to the campus. I joined and my alterior motive was to convince them to bring BFF, but it turns out, I made a ton of great friends, and have a lot of fun, go toa lot of free shows, learn a lot about the music business, and meet bands. Its cool. stacy Cuz everyones my friend in New York City And evertything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty The streets are paved with diamonds And there's just so much to see But the best thing about New York City is you and me. --They Might Be Giants "New York City" http://www.u.arizona.edu/~stacyf icq #7641939 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 07 Oct 1998 16:51:42 -0700 From: Chickfactor Subject: still scratchy well, i went to the doctor today, and i do NOT have Mono or Strep. yay yay yay. it's just a nasty little virus that's working it's way out of me. i am feeling a bit better now. all those drugs are certainly helping. which reminds me, i should take some more. on an annoying note, i broke two of my nails (which took a hell of a long time to grow out) while trying to pry the tape off the package i got from Slimstyle today. Stacy, i hold Jack Vaughn personally responsible;). btw, does Slimstyle handle Blue Plate Special? if so, could you tell Jack he forgot to send that cd in my package. did anyone listen to my show last night? besides Kathryn, i mean. i know she did because she wrote me a lovely email about it. musically, we're very much in tune with each other. i got old J,LC cds today! yay! i so wish they'd come west again. without Hootie. Ginger, Sara, Scott and Sandi... i'd like to make it your mission to let them know that there are some very antsy fans in L.A./OC (i'm counting Kathryn too) that want to see Matt's sexy hips in action. My grandma sent me cookies today. even more yay. that woman can make a chocolate chip cookie to beat the band. mmmm mmmm good. well, i'm going to go watch the WGN feed of the Dawson's Creek premiere before I go to my Hitchcock class. I believe we're watching Notorious. great feckin' film. hope class doesn't go 5 1/2 hours like it did last week, though. feh. ~Courtney The Sultraness of Swing "It's a Stickley. There was a window of opportunity for me to do a Drunken Post(tm) but I sadly wasted it to go get food at IHOP instead. Maybe next time. Thanks to everyone who tuned into me on CNBC the other night; not as interesting a topic as the Fear of Pop conspiracy, I'm afraid, but then again few things are. How excited am I that there is an album coming out next month of 90s bands covering songs from 80s teen flicks! Ben Lee and the Donnas are on it, I know. I think they missed the perfect opportunity to have BFF cover Footloose, but it should be cool anyway. Did anyone else watch South Park last week and notice that the guests on the game show were "Tom and Mary"? Coincidence or not: you decide. cheers, katy ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V1 #268 *********************************
