So I could get chicks Like guys that are queer Guys that don't like chicks Don't like guys like me 'Cause I can't be queer I'm too ugly. I figured if everyone else out there was throwing out obscure lyrics, I might as well give it a shot. Okay, last night was dead as hell except for one glorious bright shining light: I bought the new Cake CD. I love that band. They're my #2 behind.... um, what's their name again? Three guys, no guitar, really cute drummer.... Ah, can't be that important. ;) Anyway, the CD rocks my entire world. Get it. Now. That's an order from Eris on high (or is that High-on?) so hop to it. And one other point, not I'm in the same boat as our darling Courtney. Hmmm, maybe a road trip is in order. I AM having a party on Saturday.... ;) Anyway, duty calls. Laters all! Hail Eris! No. We're not. We are no more. We thought we would be totally okay with this, because we weren't seeing eachother much anyhow, what with some of us backstroking every moment we weren't doing homework. But nope, it hurts us bunches. I know that I wanted things to end because I missed him and started to resent him. I don't know whether he wanted things to end because he hates his vulnerability or because he really doesn't care about me anymore. I daresay the latter would be a load of crap, considering how crazy he was about me, what a great time we still always have together, etc, but who knows. Maybe he's just a damn good actor. Crap. So I've been writing a lot. Writing is good. Cathartic. I *really* want to go out drinking... Ahhh! I have much to do this week... -- going to the TMBG concert tomorrow night!! :-) Later, babelettes. carrie ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 6 Oct 1998 08:39:40 -0700 From: "Kamp, Marcus S" Subject: Break Out the Skinny Ties & Polo Cologne! So, last night I did something I haven't done since I was about 14, and no it wasn't signing Anthony Michael Hall's autograph. I played drums along to a tape. I was practicing & getting bored/frustrated w/sambas & Afro-Cuban rhythms, so I broke out the ol' Walkman. "What tape was in the Walkman, Markus?" you might ask. Well, here's where the Bentent comes in...Ben Folds Five (self-titled)!!! Budding drummers, listen up...I mean, 1st off, I already knew Darren is an exceptional drummer, but where the real challenge comes in is w/the groove the boys have established. Their time is sort of all over the place, but mainly because they have this intense communal build going into the choruses...fun to do w/the eye contact & body language afforded members of a performing ensemble, but a bitch to get right when playing to a tape. Ya can't just chalk it up to a flawed sense of rhythm, either, because they fluctuate together, as one musical body, breathing, ebbing, flowing...they have some great aural sex together. If yer wantin' a good work out, strap on the phones, pick up some sticks, & start rockin' w/the hipster doofi!!! Yikes. I've never posted before; I've lurked for longer than I can remember. But I think I can serve a useful purpose. See this? Yeah, that... Well, the cover (supposedly) is a photgraph of some people running away from a huge flaming pile of marijuana. I think. Pop? Pot? Not much of a difference. This came from Dan the fanatic guy. Apparently Doug let him see it when they were at Conan. It might change, though. But whatever. There, I said it. Maybe I'll say something else later. Later. ...heh. TOTALLY BLEW ME AWAY. I thought an electric set would piss me off but he was brilliant. Quasi opened up for him and also just KILLED. I HIGHLY recommened their new CD..."Quasi...Featuring Birds" Anyway.....Me and some friends got backstage afterwards....He's an amazingly sweet guy. But even more frail and than you'd expect. I was afraid to take a pic with him cuz I thought the flash would break him or something...Also.."Pictures of me" isn't exactly a warm song....
