Alana coverend Ani. and did you all know that josh Workman from Indigo Swing used to play in her band? well he did. he's cute and has sideburns. i read "magnum pi" as "magnum 3.14159265358979323." and no, i didn't randomly make those numbers up. in 8th grade my math teacher gave us the option to memorize Pi to the 75th place adn if we recited it back correctly to him we'd get an A for the semester. and I did it. last A i ever got in math. went to see Clay Pigeons tonight. hell yeah, that was quite the movie. Vince.... in all his slimy/creepy glory. i could eat him up with a spoon. i just repeat to myself over and over that i should thank my lucky stars that i got a chance to meet himlast year (and touchj his arm, hot damn!). we went to go see the movie in Santa Monica and apparently that was THE place for random celebrites to hang out tonight. while we were loking for a parking space i saw Anthony Head (Giles from Buffy), when we got out of the elevator in the parking structure we almost ran into Matt Stone (one of the South Park guys) and while we ate at La Salsa, we saw Allison Eastwood and then she ended up being at the movie too. i think she may have been stalking us. saw Ronin last night. it kicked my ass. i don't think i'd have liked it nearly as much if DeNiro hadn't been in it. he's waht, 56 or so? still sexy as all get out. and whoa, the car chases were so kickass. remind me to buy a Peugeot. although i wasn't quite down with Natscha McElhone's Irish accent. it was just a bit much for me. i have no bentent to speak of... what a surprise. but i don't think you've been waiting with baited breath or anything. so what the hell does it matter? i'm annoyed that BBVD are playing at the Palladium on halloween. i hate that place. the security are like nazis. you can't bring in a tube of lipstick becase it may conceal a needle with which you could poke someone's eye out. yet they let in riff raff like Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx (I know, i saw them at the crystal method). feh. i'm tired and i think i'm getting cranky. i've got to get up early and have lunch witha friend, so i shall bid you all a good night. ~Courtney The Sultraness of Swing "My name's not Cowboy." ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Sep 1998 06:20:54 -0400 From: Kristin Klevering Subject: Huh? Carrie - I just want to let you know that you don't have to settle for this kind of treatment - what you are going through with your boyfriend reminds me so much of what I went through with my ex-boyfriend (not to be confused with the current one, who dumped me and took me back right away because he realized that we had something good going). He was never around, and always accused me of wanting sex too often (is once a week asking too much?). It just sucks when some guy tells you that you are "unnaturally interested in sex" - it's such the double standard with guys. Pissses me off. I think your list of qualities you want in your next man are reasonable. I laughed when I read about the "being able to fit in a twin bed" - I've forgotten about that problem! As soon as I graduated from grad school, the first thing I bought was a queen-size mattress set. Literally - - I bought it the day that I went through commencement I wanted to get rid of my twin set that badly, and my parents gave me a check to cover it! Gotta love being the first in the family to get a master's degree...( not trying to tout - just glad that my folks gave me money to buy the bedding I'd been craving for several years). I love Jellyfish, and I only got into them by listening to everyone post about them here and on the other majorly awful mail list. But I think I even like Fluid Ounces even more than Jellyfish, and I find them to be very similar. Bands I don't get that most of you like - Jeff Buckley and Belle and Sebastian. I've listened, but I just don't get it. If anyone can help me to figure out why most of you like them, please let me know. I've got 2 CD's here that I just don't care for, and want to understand why, since I like most of the bands that are reccomended to me by you all. Got Jump Little Children's "Magazine" and I really do like it a lot, expecially "Cathedrals". I would love to see these guys live - would give me a totally new perspective on the CD. Sorry for the long-ass post with little content. I woke up way too early this morning with nothing to do. Later - Kristin "No matter what happens between us, I want you to know that I really do like Ben Folds Five" - my boyfriend, after we'd mended a problem in our relationship. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Sep 1998 14:55:27 GMT From: "tavia -" Subject: livid anyone going to livid? Personally I like "Firewall", but there're many tracks I enjoy. Went and saw Rush Hour this weekend. Jackie Chan gets boring after a while, after the initial amazement wears off. Although there was this one scene with a large ceramic urn (vase?) that was mighty entertaining. Another thing, I really don't get Chris Tucker's humor. Just not my style. Give me a Ben Stiller, Janine Garafalo, Bob Odenkirk, Andy Dick (hey, its the entire cast of The Ben Stiller Show, that was on fox long ago). Speaking of dead funny fox shows, how about Get a Life, or Parker Lewis Can't Lose. Man, I loved those shows. No interesting CDs in the player. Although tune into public radio and catch "This American Life" sometime. The best show on radio, it makes me want to become an Ira Glass groupie. - -Tom ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Sep 1998 14:53:54 -0400 (EDT) From: Ginger Nance Subject: it's sandi's world... and I'm just along for the ride! Robbie Fulks last night was quite fun. And yes, Mr. Jessee and Mr. Sledge did make appearances, but that other guy was mysteriously absent. Robert was also wearing a loud Hawaiian shirt and drinking Busch Light. I guess maybe it's nice to see that money hasn't changed some people?! I'm listening to the new Elliott Smith right now. I like it alot. Tuesday night should be fun. :) I hate breaking in new shoes, esp. when they give you nasty blisters. I also hate it when your football team absolutely sucks, because then it's just depressing to try to go to games. Sigh. It's going to be a loong season. Less than two weeks to the Jump show/semi-reunion of the Tabernacle show crew! Scott, Sara, and Kim all in one weekend--whatever will I do?! And this is for John, because he asked. I saw a really fucked up movie tonight for my cinema class: Performance. I know I am going to have nightmares; movies like that should not be seen sober, I think.
