Have i mentioned i really like Nat.. oh. i have. sorry what is the RF opinion on licence plates? gee, i don't know, maybe we should ask FL. ;) the australian rocky horror sucks like a very sucky thing indeedy. i mean, people should be able to sing, shouldn't they? and who's idea was it to cast Tim Ferguson as Frank'nfurter? i mean, he's too scrawny. Ginger, wheres the tarheel gone? that's what's wrong with the world today, when cultural icons disappear. ah well, off with my head. the loverly weather today was wonderful. i sat out with my friends on the year 12 lawn, and listened to music. and i even managed to convert 3 people to listen to the melodic strains of the boys. ah, the joys of 20 degree days. just scrumptious. ahh, and tommorow promises to be better. i love my life, and i know that you do too. exams in two weeks and i am feeling mightly confident. i am just gonna kick back and let everything wash over me. i have a new philosophy today, and that is....... "just let everything come as it does". that and i have already finished my study. prepared? you betcha. kathyryn, i dunno, the bit that says "ahh bullshit you motherfuckers let's go" seems to be from For All the Pretty People. at least, that's what my MP3 proclams it to be. i missed my last flight, and actually it was back from the BFF sydney gig on the monday. i had to wait in the domestic terminal, regional departure lounge, for 8 hours. i am still bored. i was just amazingly surprised to see that i had made an impact, however small, with my little page. i mean, who would have thought it, eh? matthew, you fence! i have always wanted to go fencing, but the people keep me away from sharp things. my dad is a golf pro, and he _hates_ people who race the carts. :) you can get a real turn of speed on those bastards if you overcharge the batteries, then let them run down the 9th fairway. i hit a magpie last time i played. with the putter. silly bugger shouldn't have swooped me. actually, i'm not too shabby at golf, must run in the genes, because after my last round my handicap was 16. i think it's blown out, tho. (All you young punks listen up, too!!!) Miles, Miles, and more Miles. Check out Kind of Blue, Birth of the Cool, and Cannonball Adderley's "Somethin' Else Featuring Miles Davis". Oh, and Panthalassa, which is a remix CD of some of his least annoying late-60s/early-70s electric stuff. Depending on what Coltrane you do/don't have, Impressions, Lush Life, Giant Steps, Ballads, My Favorite Things, and Blue Train are a good start. If you're preference leans towards the saxomophone, Wessell Anderson, Joshua Redman, and James Carter are some decent young fellers (as opposed to young Kellers) bringin' up the torch. For young trumpeter swans, Roy Hargrove & Marcus Printup (gotta love the 1st name) are kickin' it old school. For rhythm section cats, treat yourself to some Christian McBride, Marcus Roberts (there's that word again), TS Monk Jr., and anything w/either Tain Watts or Jayson Marsalis. So basically, anyone from the Miles Davis (including Coltrane, Cannonball, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Marcus Miller, Wayne Shorter, Kenny Garrett, etc.) or Wynton Marsalis (actually Art Blakey, since he gave the young Marsalises their introduction to our listening world) schools is a good bet. Don't forget anybody who's ever been associated w/Medeski Martin Wood, including John Scofield & DJ Logic. Oh yeah, and Sinforosa! Markus's Advice, pt. 654: if you ever do something really cool (like an awesome CD, book, poem, painting, score for an A&E program, etc.), dedicate it to one or both of your parents...I can't think of a nicer tribute. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Sep 1998 10:34:14 -0400 From: "Lyons, Anne" Subject: "I'm good at medical stuff, since Xander and I used to play docto r all the time..." I was deathly afraid that my most recent crush was about 10 years younger than me. OK, well, maybe not *deathly* afraid... but scared nonetheless. But I found out yesterday that Nicholas Brendan is only a year my junior! Hip hip hooray! But unfortunately, this might mean that I won't be sending to the RF as often since I plan to move to LA and begin stalking the erstwhile M. Brendan! No, no, no! I'm just kidding! Of course I wouldn't stop sending e-mail to the RF! I'd just pick up a hotmail account or something and send messages from LA... Now, now... no need to get all in a tizzy! I swear that I do not intend to stalk the aforementioned hottie. I'm not the stalking type... But I digress. Matthew! >speaking of strange childhood food faves, my ex, alexis, whom we've spoken of, loved >grilled blue cheese sandwiches when she was little. should've clued me in right when i >found that out, hmmmm? Which is good. But my boss caught me. Which is bad. But she was in the mood to vent about the "jockeying for position" that is currently underway here at SDI. Which is kind of mediocre, I guess. Now... whose bit did I jsut steal? I'm pretty sure it was either Eric or Spence or Scott... so... lemme know how much I owe you in royalties... Sandi! Well, you came and you gave without taking And now you're going away Oh Sandi! And you can kiss men and stop them from shaking Unless it's epilepsy Oh Sandi! Apologies to all you Manilow fans out there who may be crying "Sacrilege!" Or, OK, maybe not... *grin* But seriously -- have a blast in The Beautiful South, Sandi-babe! I expect to see a whole bunch of drunken posts now that you have gotten out of your indentured servitude! = ) And speaking of Barry Manilow... when I was about 8 years old, my two friends and I used to mount entire stage productions involving the music of Barry Manilow. We had costumes and everything. Now, we weren't entirely crazy... we would also mount musical revues of TV themes (each theme painstakingly manually recorded onto one cassette tape) and Elvis music, and showtunes (except we could only do Grease! at my house because my mom wasn't yet wise to the actual lyrics of "Greased Lightning"... not that we understood any of it. We thought the car would be a "real pussywagon" because the T-birds were "cool cats" or something. Ahhhhhhhh... the naivete of youth!). But I digress. Just thought I would share the image of an 8 year old Anne and her two friends acting out the story of "Copacabana". And yes... I always got to be Lola. You shoulda seen me in the last act -- all drunk and used up with faded feathers in my hair... *grin* Later! - -Anne "I do not babble. I occasionally run on. This is a pretty lengthy list I have decided, school really isn't that great. Let's rant about it, shall we? ok 1st hour, I have weight training, weight training is the work of the devil. There are 3 girls in that classs besides me. Let me describe the 3 girls. 1st girl, this scary loner type that has pieces of food in her hair, she is really kind of scary, I mean, REALLY. 2nd girl is Ashley, we're kind of friends because her brother is the biggity bomb. Ok, not really, I use to go to Applebee's and annoy her all of the time, and she'd give us those yummy glacier cakes mmm.. free food. 3rd girl is the class president, I don't like her at all, the number one thing that annoys me about her is her eyebrows, HER EYEBROWS, you must realize that I'm very picky about eyebrows, these things are DARK, and HUGE, I'm not kidding. English.. eh it's ok, not anything too terribly exciting. SPANISH SUCKS. Chemistry, I love Chemistry, you don't realize, not to neglect the fact that my teacher is like the totally coolest teacher in the whole wide world, he's so awesome. He's is one of the funniest guys I know, he just makes me laugh. That's my overall impression of some of my day. I signed up for crews today woohoo. So I'm doing painting, I love painting, you can have so much fun while painting, that's all i've got to say. and Publicity which means I get to make up cool slogans for announcements woohoo. and Ushering, aka the crew i'm doing because I'm way too lazy to contribute to a real crew. aka the crew overflowing with freshman. Kris-Kross will make you. JUMP! JUMP! ok, I like Magazine alright but that's all I have to say. BELLE and Seebasstiaaan. Ok, 6 more days, oh my god, I'm in heaven, I love all i've heard so far, they are the prettiest band ever. Slam, buhbuhda, buhbuhda let the boyz be boyz. Katie's love interest of the week! For those of you who didn't know me last year during the school year (and most of you didn't) you will soon find that although I don't like Hanson, I am indeed boy crazy. Not to a ooh he's so cute extent, but to a, I think I can marry this guy extent. Anyway, my love interest of the week is a football player (oh god how can I like a football player, I can't do that!!) yeah yeah, but he's in my math class, and he's a really good guy I think. I don't know, we talk a lot, I don't know why we just click. But I've got a shoe-in because he's friends with my friend Koreeee and that's good because that means he eats lunch with us, (wahoo) ok you needed to know that. a month and a half till homecoming, and i'm worried about a date, i'm psycho.
