Just letting you know, my radio show can now be heard on Real Audio. 10am to 12pm Pacific time on Wednesday. This is just for the next 2 weeks or so, and then I will have a perminent spot for the rest of the semester. And I will tell you when that is. You can tune in anytime to the site, its supposed to have music 24 hours a day. Though right now its dead air, I dunno why. Someone just forgot to plug in CD 3 I guess. Programming (as in with DJs) will be from about 10am to 6pm on weekdays for the next 2 weeks, and then after that, we are hoping to have people there 24/7. My show is called The Alice Childress Family Hour. Rest assured, you will enjoy those 2 hours, as I play stuff I think you all like. Belle And Sebastion for one thing, Radiohead, Ben Folds Five, (of course) Morrissey, The Smiths, Cake, and tons of things you may or may not have heard of. I try to keep big popular radio songs to a minimum. After all, this *is* college radio. the address is http://kamp.arizona.edu you can link there to get real audio software or go to http://www.real.com its free software if you don't have it already. I'm sorry!!! Hi All Wow 2 posts in 2 weeks...coincidence or not!!!!!! Well I was sick of lurking (I love the word "lurk") and I said "That's it I am going to start contributing more!!!!". Meanwhile I said that aloud in a crowded computer room..... You get very strange looks from people when you talk to yourself. Jordan said: >the australian "sound" has matured and diversified in >recent years, and now spans a wide range of musical tastes and everything. we go from things like the recent regurgitator album, which is electronica-pop, to balladieers such as nick cave and neil finn, to rock bands like you am i and the fauves. The whitlams, which are a fantastic band, are as different to, say, grinspoon, which are another great band, as chalk is to cheese. we have this amazing >creative vibe here at the moment, just like the UK a few years ago. i guess that what im trying to say is all you foreigners should try and listen to some australian music, as it is one of the most vibrant >scenes in world music today. i guess i should make a mix tape and post it to jen's page, so you people can listen to some great aussie music. i will, gods damn it! im righty riled now. let's do it people! *standing ovation* Well spoken!!!Yeah!!!!!C'mon aussies lets hear it for Jordan!!!!! Jordan again: >Lauren, you available? j/k. Hee hee!!! >however, you are right. the castle is piss funny. Everybody should see this movie!!!!!!! Absolutely piss funny!!!!! >and i haven't slept since posting about Kimbo in shorts. i can see the verandah now. ewwww that's gross. Me either.....we have to get off the subject of Kim Beazley in shorts, really we do..... its not good for our mental health!!!!!! >voting age in australia sucks. to be 17 and 9 months on the eve of an election... I'll be 17 and 10 months, I WISH I COULD VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!! >the democrats are cool tho. and Natasha Stott Despoja >is the coolest. She is smart, witty, young, and inordinatly attractive to boot. She's amazing isn't she!!!! And she wears docs to parliament, she absolutely rules!!!!!!!! Scott said: >Yes, kids... now you too can showcase your lyrical knowledge and vocal talents, thanks to Sound Choice records' "Give Me Forever" karaoke compilation, featuring the hit Ben Folds Five song, "Brick"! Techno, karaoke... what's next for this lovely little abortion ballad? Yoinks. Ohmigod!!!! You have got to be joking!!!!!! Kate and Jordan (again): On the topic of australian beer....I hate beer, I'll drink it if theres nothing else to drink, but I hate it nonetheless. Personally I love Bundaberg Rum....and since I come from Bundaberg it's kind of a neccessity that I drink it!!! Damn expensive tho. Kate (again)>Me me me me me me me!!!!!! :oD I got my tickets yesterday from a very cute little mail boy (I had to sign for them). Definetely excited about this!!!! Lucky you (about the mail boy and the tickets)...I would really, really, REALLY love to go...Lack of cash at the moment but I'm working on it, I hate being a poor uni student!!!!!! Another thread....how about weird fillings people put on sandwiches? Mmmmmm well I think that outta be enough from me until next week!! If I had the guys for 24 hours, my time would start at midnight (so that I could have two nights). I'd make them, and Doug, their significant others, and all their roadies and persons working for them, take me dancing at my fav place, 1470's, here in Dayton. I'd beg everyone not to drink, and when those couple of swing songs came on, I'd make Ben, Darren, and Robert, each dance with me. Then after sleeping in (except for me because I'd be too excited), I'd take them(only the three since that's all I'd have room for) cruising in my Dad's '66 Malibu convertible (and when would go to my parents' house to get the car, I'd make sure that Robert and Darren say some really immature things so that my Dad would get all worried even though he couldn't do anything since I'm too old) and we'd go cruising to the Rootbeer Stande. Heck! This is a dream so I'd even let Darren drive, and me and Ben could take the windy backseat. But we'd leave soon after for them to set up for their concert... uh... i'm not sure where the best place would be to have it... But anyway, the only people who have invites are my bff-fan friends and you guys on the RF (and your friends). And of course everyone outside the US got free plane tickets so all ya' all were there. THAT, is my 24-hrs as I would spend it with my guys. You know, for some reason I thought the chat with Chuck was last night. I missed it! I feel dumb. You guys are going to think I'm nuts; I'm working on my BFF page, which is really a BFF Fans page (it'll be cool, trust me) and I decided it would be great to have a very comprehensive links page. I thought a lot of people could use it. So (nuts part here) I spent, god, like 7 hours at least going through every site on the webring, plus about 15 more, writing down key features of each. I bet that's not even half the worthwhile pages. What I was going to do, is have a table with the 1. title of each page, 2. the author, 3. the url (as a link) 4. whether it has things like audio files, decent discog, more than 15 good links, tabs and sheet music, etc. I realize this will take massive amounts of time. But more than that, I need to find a pagemaker program (as much as i'm against those) that I could cut and paste entire columns of text onto, to make the table. Any ideas? Jessica: It's great to hear about coventry and the flats. I'm sure the guys would like it there. Anne: Have you ever tried Cincinnati's famous food? Skyline chili or Goldstar Chili? BNL wrote a song about it at Horde. They describe it as "a taste you must learn to aquire." It's really disgusting. *wishing for longer (but not too long) RF's*, barbi ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V1 #230 *********************************
