Anyways that new song... intrigues me, I don't know whether I really like it or not, but it intrigues me. I heard their best album is some live album they put out a while ago? This little terrorist spat we're having is *anything* but a distraction. There's no one to distract; there's no election coming up, he'll never be up for re-election. The grand jury investigation will go on regardless of our situation overseas. When someone bombs your embassies and kills hundreds of people and hurts thousands, it's not about distracting the public from a scandal. The public supports him anyways, he has no reason to change anything. Well now you've all seen political sean. Bententicals... Does anyone else look forward to Fear of Pop with nervous anticipation? I mean, for all we know it could be reeeeeeeeally bad... no, weird's a better word. My biggest fear is all the nonsensical dribble that will show up on the armchair........... Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Aug 1998 21:20:05 -0400 From: Kristin Klevering Subject: Raindrops and such Someone posted yesterday about hoping he/she would like the Rufus Wainwright everyone has been talking about. I bought the CD after the reccomendations of you all and my cousin (who I've turned into a huge BFF fan as well), and I really dig it. The first 3 songs are my favorite, but the rest of them are okay, more the kind of stuff I'd like to read a good book to and hear in the backround. On that note, I also got the CD from Fluid Ounces - "Big Notebook For Easy Piano" - at the advice of someone's post either here or on the Armchair, and I absolutely LOVE it! They sound a lot like Jellyfish, who I've also come to adore and have acquired both CD's by them (if there's more - please let me know!). I went to the Fluid Oz. website (www.spongebath.com) and found that they're releasing a new CD in Sept., so I'm pretty excited! I went to see this movie this afternoon downtown called "Clockwatchers". It had Toni Collette in it, from "Muriel's Wedding", and I just love that movie, so I thought I'd check this one out. It wasn't that great, but it had it's moments. It was about these temporary office workers and their job at this idiodic credit agency, and this agency had musak playing all the time. I didn't really notice it until the musak started playing "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head"! I never much thought about the song for my entire life until I saw BFF cover it, and now I find it a cute little tune, even when it's musak! Back to Fluid Oz. for a sec - I was driving to Missy's bridal shower (what a long ass waste of time for a beautiful Saturday - whoever thought up the idea of bridal showers should have been stoned before the first one took place!) and was listening to them, and I did note a touch of Gershwin in the piano playing. I even rewound the tape to double check, and yes it was actually there! Enough of my ramblings - can't wait until tomorrow, which will be a beautiful day again, and I have no obligations other than a greasy breakfast with my boyfriend and a day of rollerblading! No more being forced to eat chicken (they serve chicken at every shower I've ever been to, and I hate chicken, and the only time I eat it is when I go to a shower) and having to wear a dress when I'm not getting paid to do so! Later - Kristin ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V1 #222 *********************************
