She was normally this mild-mannered girl, but when she put on her (big, purple sparkly( earrings, she became Jem, rock superstar, and played with her band the Holograms. The Misfits wre a rival band who were always trying to outsmart Jem. so now you know. While walking through the mall yesterday, I found these "Fantasy Ball Spice Girl Official Lollipops" which were pretty damn funny, and it made me think: what Ben Folds Five product would you most like to see? Ah, it could go in so many directions: I remember my loser friends in 7th grade who had New Kids sheets, so there could be Ben Darren and Robert to cuddle up with at night, or there could be the simple poster, or something truly inspired like something I can't think of now becuase it's too early. cheers, Katy p.s. oh, yeah, what was that thing in Q? I deleted that message and couldn't find anything on the site or the magazine, but maybe I am just crazy and missed it. ________ Katy Demcak kdemcak@wellesley.edu http://wilbur.wellesley.edu/a-m/kdemcak/kdemcak.html "It's been a hard day's night and I've been working like a dog" -- some guys from Liverpool ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Jul 1998 08:29:47 -0700 From: "Kamp, Marcus S" Subject: Sessions www.rockontv.com says that the Sessions @ West 54th Street episode w/Beck & BFF will be re-run on 1 August. For those of you who missed it the 1st time (like ME!!!), this is an excellent show. Be sure to check your local PBS listings, though, as some of the affiliates (like MINE!!!) don't follow the national schedule. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Jul 1998 09:44:30 -0700 From: "Jennifer Auletto" Subject: Vacaion, here I come! If you send me something in the next few days, it will probably be posted Monday or Tuesday. OK? OK! As she mentioned, I was in Chapel Hill for a week, and we hooked up on Sunday for a closer look at the local *flavor*. Oh, but I did make it to Mama Dip's on Tuesday...we all went there for dinner. Really good...*especially* the grits... I also agree with her on the Dag and The Doleful Lions bit. We went music buying crazy, and well, it was fun. I've had both in rotation today as I return to work along with all my other Chapel Hill purchases. So, I just wanted to publicly thank Ginger for coming out and giving me the low-down. The whole place rocks!!! Thanks so much! Oh, and another thing...stopped by Cafe Trio before I left. I had to, and all I have to say...Ginger, it won't be long. I'll have those painfully tragically hipsters all moved down to the steps at the Post Office! Thanks again!!!! To the faithful BFF fans from the MA and RF- Hello. It is weird to see that a band with such a devoted and slightly religious following like our boys does not have a fan club. Well that will soon change. Behind the leadership of Erik Sorenson, he and myself among others will be starting the Ben Folds Five Fan Club. After discussions with the band and their management, the Fan Club is finally expected to get it's feet off the ground, but nothing will work without the support of the fans. Early on, the Fan Club will start up in a fairly limited capacity. Possibly a quarterly 'zine for starters with expectations for major growth. The goal is to at sometime hold fan club only concerts and maybe release fan club only material! The possiblities are endless, but only if we have the support of the fans. All the management, if you will, of the fan club are devoted fans of BFF...but we can only provide you with so much information. Eric and I are taking applications from people who wish to contribute to this effort, we would especially appreciate the support of the administrators of both lists. That means you, Frank and Erik! When applying please list your areas of expertise and what you think you could contribute to the fan club. Please do not flood the following response address with applications to join, only to help. We will be allowing members soon...but first we are still setting up the foundation. Please stay tuned for further updates, there will be a webpage ready soon with a Fan Club FAQ, and more information on the capacity of the fan club. The hope is that through a fan club that the fans will be more aware of the comings and goings of the band, with the fan club acting as the middle man to bring you the exclusive information straight from the band! Please send all applications, and inquiries about help to...
